I was confused by the Panda. I could have sworn that they said it was going to be a Caterham this week.
I was supposed to be. First thing yesterday morning it said it was on last night, then this time yesterday it had changed to next Monday and now its saying September 7th!

Hes always saying "Dont buy a car in the rain" but buys a car in the rain.

Then says "Always ask about the car for sale - dont mention the model incase they are a dealer"

then calls up and says "Im calling about the M3"
I understand that the car has already been bought by the time they film Mike "buying" it. The car has been researched, inspected, the price agreed, etc. etc. all long before the filming.
Maybe it was raining on the day they had arranged to film him "buying" it and they just decided to go ahead with the filming anyway.

But I agree that it isn't really "leading by example".

but I have only kept 4 (so far) this time.
4? I thought last weeks Rover P5 was the 1st (this weeks Panda making 2)?

I'm sure I saw some silver insulating tape along the bottom of the N/S door which I assumed was covering a rust patch/holding the bottom of the door on but there was no fix shown or replacement door fitted.

No, this is the second part of the same (latest) season (or series, as we say in the UK). The first half was mostly samey American pig iron, with a couple of gems hidden away (the BMW and MG)

"Everyone have the week off,cameramen- go home,lighting- go home,soundmen- go home, its raining and Mike says we cant buy a car in the rain"-its tv for crying out loud, what do you want them to do,cancel filming until a sunny day?

I just watched the P5 and Panda episodes on On Demand and I really enjoyed both episodes. Although I agree that the paint they chose for the Panda was awful.

I also caught an old episode of 'Wheeler Dealers: On the Road' where they were doing up an old Mercedes-Benz SL. It was quite funny hearing Edd extolling the cost savings of using pattern parts when on another episode I watched recently he spent ages rubbishing pattern parts and saying you should never use them. hehe

I quite liked the panda build, I was grimacing until I saw the final product. I liked the very daft quirky nature of it.

That Panda was something that I would do for a laugh and I'd be quite happy with the end result. I'd still only think it was worth £500 and that was only because it had an MOT.

I can't believe anyone would pay £2k+ for it. It's not even worth that if it were mint.

They could do things like this in a slightly different format. Just get a punter to say "I've got this Panda 4x4, can you do something to make it more radical and off-roady? Here's a £500 to do the work."

I must remember that it's only a TV show.

I have just watched the Panda episode. I think they've done a terrific job on it. Great fun!

I did like the panda but I can't imagine anyone paying £2500 for it let alone the £3200 it's currently up for!

I thought the Panda was one of the better episodes. If the green had been a normal paint it'd be a lot better as I thought that spoilt it.

Indeed. Military Olive Drab would have been sufficient. Or maybe even camouflage for a touch of irony. smile

The orange wheels definitely worked though.

If it had been normal paint he would have been able to put it on with a roller for £85. Hand painted cars look awful.

Oh that should be interesting.

I do hope it's one of those "restoring a tired example to mint" episodes rather than "trying to make a mint example 'better' (sic)" ones though. Because the Noble cannot be bettered. Well, apart from a Sagaris of course. biggrin

So, who do I need to speak to to get a free pair of bucket seats and harnesses?

They had the seats left over from an old VW bus build, apparently. I do seem to remember those too.
