So, who do I need to speak to to get a free pair of bucket seats and harnesses?
They had the seats left over from an old VW bus build, apparently. I do seem to remember those too.
I also remember those seats. They were definitely leftovers.

Not convinced on the harnesses though; "These are ex demonstrators, so free". Yeah, right Edd. scratchchin

Also, did anyone notice that when Edd was fitting the rear eyes for the harnesses, he had to lift some rubber matting to do so? Where did that come from? I thought they stripped the interior?

I also noticed that there was a mechanic's name in the credits. Not a name that I'd seen before. Does this mean that I've been hoodwinked for the past 15 years and that Edd doesn't do all the work himself wink ?

I don't think they have ever hid it, they had numerous bits where paul/phil lend a hand and bits where he said paul did these bits and edd shows the interesting stuff

Least a tool costing several thousand £s didn't just suddenly appear

This is true. hehe

Best two examples of this I can recall are:
a) Edd skimming brake discs in situ with a machine that costs tens of thousands of pounds and that he admitted you cannot rent, and
b) Re-gassing the aircon on a car, because although you need specialist training and equipment to do this, he just happened to have been on a course recently and now has all the certification and qualifications to do this. And the equipment.

But it wouldn't be as interesting if he just popped down to quickfit rather than showing you how it works. The disc skimming is £50 a corner and AC is what £35. So hardly bank breaking things.

I'm not disagreeing. Doing different things and explaining different stuff is what keeps it interesting - I agree.

You misunderstand. Rather than paying £50 a corner for disc skimming off the car, he brought in a £30,000 machine (or something like that) that you can't rent and which skims the disc on the car. It was very interesting to see him explain how it worked, and I'm glad they did it. But it did rather stretch the "willing a suspension of disbelief" that they save money by Edd doing stuff himself. biggrin

Likewise, aircon regassing is indeed something like £35, if you have all the expensive equipment and all the expensive training & certification. Edd suddenly had both one episode. smile

So Edd has his own business and you can buy shirts and stuff (GreaseJunkie).

Saw an episode where Edd was wearing one of his own grease junkie shirts with his logo and the front, then for the rest of the show it was either inside out or just a plain orange shirt. Weird.

Dont get my wrong, I don't mind about the machines. In fact I like all the stupid little things they do as it makes it more fun to watch.

I wish they'd show more of Edd and less of Mike though

I record it and FF through the bits with Mike in. Makes the show about 20 minutes long though...

I dunno. Edd used an induction heater to remove the transfers instead of his the wife's hairdryer. I bet that wasn't £10 from Argos.

But, again, I'm glad that he showed us a new toy for the man-cave smile.

LOL yes.

That's a fair point, and a good example of what I was trying to say. Bonkers expensive alternative that no amateur mechanic could own, but keeps the show interesting. smile

No it's not, but he did have the same shirt but it was on inside out. Sometimes in tv they try to give the illusion that it has been done in one day, well as far as the interior and exterior shots go. There's these people called 'continuity people'…. Whoosh parrot indeed.

Maybe you do need one. A "Continuity Whoosh Parrot". biggrin

(For continuity, it looks exactly the same as the standard Whoosh Parrot).

Who cares about minor details of continuity biggrin Perhaps Edd has a wardrobe and changes into something different for each scene, like they at the Oscars hehe

Oooh. I will look forward to that episode, since I owned a Corrado VR6 for 14 years and did a lot with it too.

It'll be interesting to compare my experience and knowledge with theirs.

Edit: Interesting that they have addressed all the usual problems - ABS pump, sunroof, and heater matrix. Mine had all of those. Bet they had to replace the coil pack too. And the ISV. And the Hall Effect Sender.
