Christ but Mike was even more annoying than usual last night.
Setting aside the fact that he said "Haitch" all the way through the programme he also seemed to be labouring under the misapprehension that semaphore indicators are called "Semi-four". Maybe because there are only two of them, I don't know. He also suggested that Edd couldn't fail to be charmed by the van's "Gaelic" charm, as if Citroen was an Irish or possibly Scottish company.
Edd doesn't say these idiotic things and he knows how to pronounce "aitch" so why doesn't he, for the good of humanity, take Mike to task?
Yes, Mikes incessant Haitching was bloody irritating, but apart from that i enjoyed that one, the electrical inverter stuff for the catering was interesting. Its good that they put the effort to find something different to do in each episode. My OCD was set off by the LED's being wonky in the semaphor though Setting aside the fact that he said "Haitch" all the way through the programme he also seemed to be labouring under the misapprehension that semaphore indicators are called "Semi-four". The one that really grated on me was when they were working on a BMW M3, which Mike kept calling an "Emm free". I know it's just how he speaks, but it just set my teef (sic) on edge. Cupramax said:

Indeed. You do sometimes get the impression that they are struggling to find something 'new' to keep the concept going, but last night's episode was nicely different… good to see that the WD team can still come up with something fresh after all these years.Pretty good episode IMO.

Because Mike's a bleedin' Cockney, innit. He's a geeeeezah. He's a little bit woooo, a little bit wayyyyy. Owd ahhht yer aaaand. Whereas Edd is a nice boy from the Home Counties who knows how to speak.
An interesting choice of vehicle if nothing else.

Corrado VR6 next week, lets hope its another good one and they dont end up chaving it up and ruining it.
Having owned a Corrado VR6 for 14 years, I'm both excited and yet trepidous about this episode.Knowing the car so well, inside and out down to the nuts and bolts, it's going to be weird seeing Edd work on one.

Just watching it now. Yes, the "gay lick" charm and the "semi four" (said as two distinct words) indicators is almost a parody of the cockney accent. In the words of Graham Chapman, "Stop that! This is getting too silly"

We didn't get to see much of the condition of the Wheeler Dealers van before the bodywork was done but the Turbo Pickers van was completely knackered. If they hadn't have been filming it I suspect it would have been crushed.
We didn't get to see much of anything on the Wheeler Dealers van to be honest. Just like last week some absolutely monumental work was simply glossed over or not even mentioned. That van was so comprehensively restored that I'm frankly amazed it didn't end up on a Q plate. Love this series, but getting slightly out of kilter with shows here in USA?
Recent one was an MG MGA converting it from White to Black, looked stunning. Has this aired in the UK?
Seems like the shows in the USA massively cut out a lot of the technical bits, which I always remember on the UK shows to be 70% of the program. For example on the MGA, they came back to the work shop and it had been painted, re-upholstered, and everything fitted. Not like the UK where they would take seats to local trimmer, and Ed would explain how the tacho and speedo where connected, and they'd carefully reinstall the dash etc.

Can't say I noticed any of Mike's annoying phrases last night, and although I like to see a classic/unusual vehicle being saved from rotting away I thought the H-van episode last night was one of the poorest of recent broadcasts.
Perhaps I should re-watch this one, but the engine swap wasn't in the least bit interesting, neither were the semifores, the electrics were mildly interesting but the main issue with the van, the bodywork, wasn't show in ANY detail. Yes, okay, we've seen Ed rubbing down countless vehicles and doing bodywork repairs before it goes to the bodyshop (the Bentley springs to mind) but I would like to have seen what treatment the shell/chassis/panels were given before they were painted to ensure the rust doesn't start coming back through again.
I remember a post on PH, several years ago (I think it was in SP&L) about a guy who bought an H-van, got it converted to sell (I think) crepes, and was wondering what recourse he had with the company who did the conversion/refurbishment work as the rust was popping through everywhere quite quickly after he'd started using the van.
Also, I would assume the Wheeler Dealers H-van would have needed all sorts of other work done to it to ensure it was able to stop & handle properly with the larger sized & larger-capacity engine in it. Plus the exhaust, and fuel tank/fuel pump. Last night was:
1. Disconnect engine, unbolt subframe from the chassis/body, lift body off the subframe
2. Shove in the new Ford engine, bolt it to the subframe, connect it to the original gearbox via an adapter plate
3. Bung the engine/subframe back onto the chassis/body and connect it up.
Again, would have preferred to see what work was required to the van to accommodate the engine.
Anyway, fairly minor gripes in the grand scheme of things, worse things in the world to get annoyed about, I still really enjoy the series and hope it continues for a good while.

Indeed. The van as bought was rather beat up and one of the wings was severely dented with rust all over the place. That would have had to have been a new wing, and it would have been nice to have seen Mike sourcing the body panels. I would have preferred to have seen that rather than all the 240v wiring stuff. Although, in fairness, we have seen countless trips from Mike to parts warehouses and we have never seen a 240v install so I guess that is fair enough.
