Check the fuse first - I know that I disabled mine, as I'd hit the button accidentally & leave water marks over the freshly polished bonnet.

Hang on, so the buyer (supposedly) buys it from Mike for 7 "owld out ya 'and" Grand - has a pile of work and upgrades done, by some fancy Honda Technician and is selling it for £500 more and Mike's pissed off - is it the measly 'profit' the guy is making, or the fact they he names drops the programme to do it? I've seen the Ads they use when they're selling car for the show - they really push the "it's been on telly" angle.
I think that some of the work might have been done before the show and some during the show, but now shown e.g. the front discs looked very new when they were fitting the refurb wheels.

They said it got pads and discs. Did they say a thing about the rocker cover getting replaced/refurbed?

Yes, Ed did say they got it 'crackle painted' when he was fitting it.

Was looking forward to the S2000, but a poor episode IMO.

The chap had a bid of 3.4k on ebay, but let him have it for 3? confused

But no problem, it has an engine fault that a garage couldn't rectify after rebuilding the engine, that means Ed will be taking it apart which is always interesting....

But no... A ridiculously easy fix and that's the engine sorted.

And of course the icing on the cake, the original owner 'buying' it back. So he bought the car, rebuilt the engine, sold it as he couldn't solve the problem confused and then buys it back for 7K!! Mental!! Mike, if the phone was ringing off the hook, why not give someone else the chance to buy it? At least restore some credibility instead of the original owner getting it back.

Sorry, but all in all just a pointless episode that should have been way better then it was.
Edd also, for some reason, spent about 3mins talking about cleaning and 'restoring' radiator brackets!

Their Ford Pop Hotrod is on PH for a shade under 30k... not sure they sold it like that though. Not exactly a quick flip, but wonder if Mike ill blow a fuse over that too.

I bloody love WD though. Brain out TV with spanners, oily bits and affordable sheds.

There's the rub, it WASN'T ringing off the hook. There's not much market for a Tango'd S2000 with an engine that's been run on no oil, that's why it's currently sat on Fleabay with no bids.

Production team took a punt and phoned the fella up, "look, we've sorted your motor, washed its face, any chance you want to buy it back? Go on, you'll get to putcha 'and there again"

Don't forget the £500 appearance fee at both ends, so the real price sale price was £3500 and the real buy price was £6500.

Did they replace the missing under tray? That's not a cheap part (from BMW I know it's pricy).

The amount of these I see on VAG cars flapping away on the motorway bloody irritating and how on earth can the occupants not hear it flapping and ground in on every single speed bump? Plus the repair if lug broken drill another new hole and cable ties for a few £.

Bought for £6,000 , spent another £12,000 doing it up and sold it for £23,000

£500 appearance fee? Is this fact or Internet myth?

This may be my cynicism showing through again now, but Edd LOVES a new tool - there can't be many full-time garages that could justify a fancy glass bead in water jet machine, let alone the WD Garage that does 12 cars a year. I don't know what they cost, but I guess it'll be one of those WD tools you'll only see once.

Anyway, bracketry, even in the most bone-dry arse invading main dealer they're not going be hundreds of pounds each.

At least it's a good way of making the WD maths work - send them out to be cleaned and repainted - £50 onto the budget, buy new ones £100 onto the budget, buy a £5000 glass bead water blasting machine - nothing onto the budget.

At most, there's a healthy mark-up on professional garage tools to facilitate easy finance and bulletproof warranties - it wouldn't surprise me if they sent him one in return for 3 mins of screen time or whathaveyou - in any other episode he's simply say "I've cleaned and repainted these" in the voice over on the final build montage.

Maybe it was £100 value for the hotel, and £400 for the signed Doovde? wink

Was i the only one who was aghast when Edd didnt paint the brackets with his trusty rattle can Satin black? biggrin Dont know what all the wingeing is about on this episode. Nothing fantastic but diagnosing the VVT fault was interesting and theyve not shown diamond cutting wheels before, they looked fab when done. Cant believe it had such a basic fault as an O2 sensor out after a so called engine rebuild.

I thought it was a fairly lacklustre episode, but it wasn't completely awful.

For some reason, the background music did seem rather intrusive this time although this could have been down to an earlier comment in this thread causing me to be more sensitive to it.

And I agree - the O2 sensor fix does seem rather suspicious. Most modern cars will give you a fault code that says to replace an O2 sensor. It's something even the most inept DIY mechanic can do, as evidenced by me! My OBD2 reader told me it was an emissions fault, a quick google told me where the 2 sensors where on my car, and I replaced them.
(I even bought bare wires cheapies and grafted the plugs on myself to save a few bob. It's not exactly hard)

But it was also the silicon sealant noshed all over and blocking up the oil solenoid thing that caused it as well - which maybe the owner did when reassembling the rebuilt engine?
