Didn't Porsche 914 owner buy his car back as well?
Yes. According to the show, at least, I'm not sure how much of it is real.

Last night's was a complete restoration, wasn't it?

I do not like this type of car, but I still loved the episode, it looked brand new at the end - but I guess, with a £10k+ asking price, it needed to be..

What a contrast to the dog's dinner of an effort on that poor RX7 last week!

Nice brand new chassis on the 2cv, which can clearly be seen when they drive around the field, never been mentioned once, funny that.
I've just looked again and it looks very much like you're right.

Also.....ploughed field?? I can see a very much unploughed field of wheat stubble but not a plough in sight. And if any of you lot think I'm being picky, there really is a WORLD of difference between the two.

They didn't want to a tractor tension.

You're right of course but it has probably been ploughed in a historical sense at some point so is technically a "ploughed field".

I think WD will reach the point where they buy an old car and then replace it with an entirely different restored car at the end, possibly of an entirely different make. wink

The RX7 episode doesn't appear in the On Demand list on my Sky Planner for some reason whereas the XR2 and 911 ones do.

I wonder if it has a built in decency filter? biggrin

Yes but I can't really see them buying a Mondeo 1.8 or a Vauxhall Astra ?

I'd like to see them do an old, tired Caterham with swept wings, cross flow, revolution wheels etc and turn it into an R300 spec cycle winged, duratec powered beasty. smile

Can anyone explain how that cylinder thing actually works....I know it's a damper, but...how?
It's a cylinder with a sort of doughnut in the middle so oil is pushed up and forced through the hole thereby slowing/damping the movement. Modern shocks do the same but on a far more precise basis.

I've just decided to brave the Rx7 episode. I can't see anything that needs changing on the original car. Looks great in silver with Mazdaspeed bits and BBS alloys. It reminds me of my eunos which was the same colour with BBS alloys and lots of Mazdaspeed parts.

I must protest at this week's episode, as the budget didn't include the cameraman's labour wink
Also, Mike's Orangina wasn't included in the final total..

I think they need to work on their continuity, too. I noticed in once shot, with Ed in front of the car, there were all new shiny bits attached to the front of the engine - and a couple of minutes later, when Mike 'pops in', the shiny bits aren't there, and the original dirty parts are in view!

Exactly.

Maserati 3200GT is next week and that is something that I have been expecting for a couple of series now, especially now they have done the Aston DB7 and Jaguar XK.

you obviously have a very limited knowledge of just how many marques there have been if thats the best you are able come up with...the classics list alone could run for many years.

The original ad was clearly on Julius Thurgood's classic cars for sale website which can easily be accessed in the UK, so what was all the faffing about with outdoor cafes, newspaper small ads and Orangina then?
... but that wouldn't make good TV! Much better for Mike to do a pretend deal with "Jean-Pierre" in GCSE Franglais and generally ham it up to camera.

"Trois mille Euros? Mets ta main là!" smile

I love the foreign shows, I imagine the foreign trader babbling on in Brewer-speak in their mother tongue!

"Fwee gwand, putcha hand there!" roughly translates as:

German: Drei Riesen? Leg deine Hand gibt!
Spanish: ¿Tres grandes? Pon tu mano aquí!
Dutch: Drie grand? Leg je hand er!
Italian: Tremila? Ci metti la tua mano!
Romanian: Trei grand? Pune-ti mana acolo!
Vietnamese: Ba grand? Ðặt bàn tay của bạn có!

That's according to Bing anyway ... don't blame me if you end up with a camel/trade your first born!
