I've just finished writing up an article on the history of Wheeler Dealers.
In light of the recent RX-7 episode, I've taken a look at the Japanese Cars that have featured on the show over the past decade and tried to track their whereabouts today.
Obviously the end results of the Japanese cars that have featured have always been a little controversial, so I thought it'd be an interesting exercise.
I also spoke with a production employee to get a bit more background information. Probably nothing the majority of viewers didn't already know, but it was interesting to find out nonetheless.
Take a look:http://www.japclassifieds.com/2014/04/wheeler-deal...
If anybody can add any further information I'm not aware of it would be a massive help, and I'll add it to the article.
Apologies for the self promotion. Thought it would be a relevant and interesting read
A good read. Looks like the Impreza lives on abroad. Export marker YIn light of the recent RX-7 episode, I've taken a look at the Japanese Cars that have featured on the show over the past decade and tried to track their whereabouts today.

They should leave the Yanks alone. Ths shipping costs of parts alone makes them unlikely to yield a profit given they are expensive in the US to start with, if a classic. Most of their Yank figures really don't stack up. The boat has also sailed on most bargain classic Yanks.
The issue is going to be finding cars that are capable of making a profit so all Alfas are out, bar an SZ possibly.
Cars like the NSX are going to be very expensive on parts.
I would guess they probably wait for an appropriate car to come up at the right money and then fabricate a story round it.
I'd like to see a Granada Mk 1 or 2, maybe?
Chevette HS?
TR7 V8?

That 2cv was very nicely done, seems the extra effort was made as they knew a top example would bring a very healthy profit. Loved the eggs across a field test at the end too, and the oily bits were explained quite well. I have fond memories of the comedy body roll in these things from when we had an Eighties one as a kid.

In the ad, the seller says he hardly drove the car since buying it and that he was selling it to raise money for his daughters house purchase deposit.

Ill put my neck on the line. They fking ruined that RX-7. I actually cried a bit watching fking snake fking skin being applied to a car. Jesus titty fking Christ.
I can only hope that a shady deal was done by the owner in that he paid for them to carry out the mods that he picked on the ruse that he would pretend to buy it back.
The deux was very cool though. Surprised to see Andrew Frankel at the end!
