From the advert – “The vehicle was professionally restored to the highest standard at the turn of the century and has had very little wear since”. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1976-Jaguar-XJ-4-2-Coupe...

This list of WD cars is on this link - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheeler_DealersI know they do the labour for free, but I'm glad that they are estimating the labour costs. Edd said the Amphicar had about £10,000 labour put into the body. The "profit" in most of the episodes is also very close to what the labour would have cost.
I still think there is nothing wrong with doing cars up as a hobby. It's no different to fishing or golf. Not many golfers make a profit .
Five good episodes this series and one not-so-good is an excellent ratio.

Maybe he bought it when he was in America buying the Camaro?
If the car had been mint it would have been a pretty short programme, I'm sure they knew exactly what they were buying. I enjoy watching WD, but as entertainment not as a documentary.
I figure they go the the US with a shopping list and pick up a whole bunch of stuff. Probably have a '57 Chevy and a '60s tbird tucked away alreadyIf the car had been mint it would have been a pretty short programme, I'm sure they knew exactly what they were buying. If you Edd China skills you could easily make £100k a year from importing US classics to the UK and tarting them up. They usually make about £8-10k profit on average and do them in about three weeks.
They have a full team of mechanics. They make their money off the TV rights. As has been pointed out so many times here, the new parts that magically appear on those cars is legendary.

I just watched the amphicar episode, 52 minutes without adverts.
Probably my favourite show of the series, but the car is surely no more than a gimmick. For £35k you can buy a great car, trailer, much better boat, mooring fees and a few years's maintenance of both.
The buyer said they use them a lot in Holland. But if there was any real demand a modern version would surely be built.

Judging by the posts above it would appear WD have already filmed more episodes for showing in the Autumn.
Have they ever done a crashed car? Like a Cat C that requires extensive repairs, engine damage or possibly even a re-shell? If not then that might be a good idea for a future episode perhaps.

How long is it when you take out all the re-caps and filler? Probably 30mins tops. I really have no idea why they feel the need to re-cap what has just happened every 10mins. It's not as if the show is going to be cut in half and each 30mins shown a week apart.Probably my favourite show of the series, but the car is surely no more than a gimmick. It's on a US channel, so I suspect those fillers are part of the programming remit - for the US viewers to whom the channels must hold in low regard...TEKNOPUG said:
