Quick heads up for tonight’s show... Jag XJ-C.

Been looking forward to this once as I don’t know that much about the cars (do like ‘em though).
I presume you guys are watching sky as tonight's episode on Quest is 944 Turbo!

Yes - the brand new, bang up to date series is on tonight on Discovery.

It's probably just for the cameras because the director thinks it looks nice or a similarly stupid reason!
I nearly always use hand tools. Power stuff usually runs the risk of stripping screw heads or sending it flying.
Hand tools certainly have their place, however, particularly with removing screws etc, I find that with a power tool you can apply more downward force (whilst the tool worries about the turning motion) which means you're less likely to round the head.
Slightly off topic but has anyone else noticed Edd uses the same big red handled Philips screwdriver no mater what size of screw head he's working on? Must be his favourite driver!

This weeks episode is much more like it, lots of Ed doing practical stuff and a cracking car.

My god all that time, effort and grief to save £70, I would have just replaced the whole pump.

Looking forward to next week. I've had a TT & I'm wagering I've done all the jobs that will come up in theirs, which looks like a leggy old 225 judging by the clip.

Would probably have done the same, but I like the idea of trying to refurbish parts in order to preserve originality... also it shows that it can be done. Parts don't simply have to be chucked away.

Excellent episode tonight: might go down as one of my favorites. Might cost me some money though... I've been toying with the idea of a 123 distributor for my car for quite some time now. Guess what I've been searching the 'net for this evening?

Gorgeous XJ-C.

It's also slightly upsetting because it's a type of car I nearly bought years ago… great value but I then decided it was a bit too old man.

Very lovely car and a good balance of work/reward tonight.

Love the XJ-C, still maintain these SII/III XJ are still one of the best riding cars ever made, I loved my SIII. If I had the time/money/space I'd love to do a rest-mod on one of them (pursuits look away) with a modern XJR lump in it - signal red with doeskin hide.

Just a heads up for the new series starting tonight.
Thuderbird tonight isn't it?

Always good to see a new series of WD though: I know the show has its detractors but I really enjoy it.
I think the fact that it has lasted so many years, suggests it has a strong following (and rightly so).
WD is the top ranked program on all the UK TV channels where it airs.

Great to see wheeler dealers back on. Always a great range of cars most of which are pretty affordable for us average joes. I always think they have such genuine passion & respect for each car. Much better than that awful program with Bernie & the Canadian guy

I found this epsisode a bit "meh" tbh, nice car but they didn't really do to great deal to it.

It would be interesting to see what the Gas Monkeys made WD.
Fast N Loud pretty much *is* Wheeler Dealers.

But if Wheeler Dealers was done in the style of Fast N Loud you'd get a reality show about Mike, with maybe 10 mins of Edd spannering, of which 5 mins would be a contrived argument between Edd and Mike.
Exactly, WD is all about the cars, not the giant egos of the presenters - Fast 'n' Loud is the opposite.

Boy do they love themselves!

ETA - That, and Classic Car rescue are the only car related shows I have actually taken off series link...
WD is just as contrived as Fast N Loud, but just in different ways - the irony is they call it "Reality TV".

I prefer Fast N Loud - a lot of fun to watch and it makes a nice change seeing cars I know nothing about - I think Wheeler Dealer is getting a bit boring unfortunately.

Also, when WD mod cars they end up looking st - generally I like how the Gas Monkey cars end up.

I really enjoyed that one. Simple stuff like fitting electronic ignition and proper mere 'fettling' stuff that your average home mechanic can do was a lot more do-able for me.

Programme goes from strength to strength for me...

I think I have been watching WD for too long now. I have found the last two episodes pretty boring to be honest. They seem to be buying cars that need very little work done to them at all. I was actually really looking forward to last nights episode because I love old Jags but when Mike was browsing the ads and said that these cars can be had for as little as £5k but he would be spending £10-11k on one I knew it wasnt going to be a great episode (for me).

Compare this episode to the TVR one where they stripped and repaired the chassis or the Morgan where they completely replaced the chassis and you will see where I am coming from.
