Spot on its a great show I really enjoy every episode - just why anyone would send him insults for "ignoring" labour costs is beyond me.

Heck car TV would be all the worse if Wheeler dealers didn't exist.

Thats the next two series right there.
That's a cracking selection - I'd add Lotus Carlton but that's all.

I think they also ought to revisit the Capri - the 2.8 version - and a proper paint job this time!

I saw one in a car show Isle of Man Sept 2013 wet and windy and the owners all. 4 of them were sat inside it while the crowds went past reading its history , boy did it look good totally standard utterly mint and IIRC they bought it new....

The donor car full of parts is remarkable convenient. Still good tv, and more believable than that frigging bridge with a bamboo wrap.

Talk about throwing your toys out of the pram

His cheeky chappy act on the show doesn't help his image.

It looks like he does very little and Ed is doing all the donkey work.

It's a honest car show with very little bullst apart from the bartering bit unlike Top Gear which is bloody woeful.

Everything on Top Gear is a pre pube joke about cock/ fanny / st etc

Is it just me or does it look like they've filmed this new episode with a camera phone?

The music is all odd too.

The insults come from internet keyboard warror dipst assholes who don't understand the format. We get them on here occasionally questioning 'why don't they include Edd's labour cost' rolleyes Feck off.

Great episode tonight - probably one of the best!

1982 I had the exact car, mate had a supersport 1.3 - the xr2 should have underbonnet sound insulation.

Good episode - for me though I prefer the mk2 XR2 and it has to be white always had a hankering after one and recall so many boy racers having them when I grew up (far too young to drive then)

Cannot recall the last time I saw one on the road

Thought tonight's episode was really good. I enjoy seeing Italian exotica that I'll never even get close to owning, but I find there is something really refreshing about seeing basic cars that are realistically possible for the average person to own tinkered with.

That FSO they did last series was probably my all time favorite WD car.

That said, I can't wait for the Maserati later this series.

Great show and long may it continue to be made... but please, do another Capri. Nice 2.8 injection special in black would be excellent to see (still really miss mine frown).

They used my RX7 as the nice car example at the start of the show. I had a good day out on a private test track with the film crew, getting to see some Aventadors and McLaren P1's testing.

WGT Auto Developments did some of the work on the project car, they look after my two rotaries.

I watch (and will continue to watch) the prog, but Edd stopped being a home mechanic years ago.

The stuff he does now tends to need oodles of dosh and a full workshop. Brake skimming with a £5k machine, Terraclean with full exhaust analysis, etc.

I don't know what I'd like to see them do next, but possibly showing us how to properly spray a car (or panel). It would give him a chance to reclaim some cred after the Capri smile. They might even have to give over half an hour to the guy who sprays their cars.

I'm looking forward to the XR2, especially as it is one of the earliest ones.
Yes I agree that and he is getting more technical but I prefer him to do that rather than do the same basic mechanical fixes week in week out. Just shows what new techniques are available for people to purchase is they want.

Careful what you wish for. Its a tried and tested formula that works well and is one of the very last 'true' petrolhead type programmes left. Its made predominantly by people 40+ for the consumption by people who are 40+.

Its sold worldwide and is second only to top gear apparently.

Yes its formulaic but I think its part of the charm and watchability of it.....otherwise we'll end up with the current top gear format that, whilst watchable, has very very little to do with cars these days....

I love it! I find it so much more watchable than any US variant, where we have to suffer one contrived scene after another, fake arguments, fake shouting, all with stupid rock-like guitar incidental music in the background - even the best of the US bunch, Fast 'n' Loud veer off course and dedicate huge chunks of the show to the 'star's' egos, and showing their new burger joints!

Never get that with Mike and Ed...

It was a sack of cack! Dead beam rear axle was ancient engineering at a time when everyone else had switched to torsion beam (as did the Mk2 Fiesta - what people call the Mk2 was really a facelift!)

It was nice to see a basically engineered car on the show, but the reverence for 'Fast Fords' of that ilk really is hype (and I've owned a string of them). I was with Edd - didn't feel the love at all.

Quite an enjoyable episode. Nearly bought an XR2 many years ago. Looking forward to some of the others cars in the series particularly the Maserati.
