Watched this last night, never heard of it....even though I have posted in this thread...which surprised me.
Started watching it and realised it was the LoG sorts, and so settled into it. Thought it was going to be tedious, with the torch flare and hopeless acting, very much like a warped view of Tales of the Unexpected or something. And almost stopped watching when the voiceover came on, but then the in jokes on acting started, which were hilarious.
spoiler for ending
And then there was the pay off, very chilling, loved it, quite genuinely scary I thought, what with the urban myths of snuff films. Gave me memories of The Wicker Man.

The 70s style bad acting was great... great ending ...

this isn't the Westworld thread you know!

i sort of saw the ending coming about the actress actually getting attacked... but not the Police IV reveal... that was good...

Brilliant- Acorn Antiques does horror . With a twist at the ending which really did make it a Tale of the Unexpected - except it wasn't for me as I had already read the review in The Times....

Great setup, didn't see the end coming either. Didn't spot the hare ornament anywhere smile , Recorded it too so I'll look out for it second time around watching that.

Brilliant... except for one big plot hole Philip Glenister, who is not involved in the scam, must pull the knife in just such a way that it is credible that he cut the waitress' throat. If he just knocks the knife to the floor for example then the whole construct fails.

If nothing else the direction and production are really good - it must have taken ages re-setting the table to get the talking heads just right.

Jason Watkins however - he seems to get better and better. Acts the others off the stage imho.

I thought it was great, awesome script...

I enjoyed the very PH joke -

Your wife is like a hand grenade.... as soon as you remove the ring... *BOOM* your house is gone...

laugh

I thought towards the end it might be one con, maybe they were all in on it just to get a free meal... when the waitress said don't worry about the bill... but overall it was great!

My missus pointed this out. Let's just pretend that the scammers had a plan B, eh? smile

Apologies for being a retard but can someone please explain the ending to me?

As mentioned before Jason Watkins is brilliant a playing peculiar who are also or seemingly sinister individuals.

The way I saw it, rather than going to the police, Philip Glenister was inducted into the gang. Presumably able to make more money than he could working in the city (seems unlikely).
