Oh no it's not. biggrin

On this evening at 8.30 is 'Last-ever Episode'.

Gently and the New Age 2/2.

The detective takes on his final case as he prepares to retire, which leads him to investigate a reforming politician who is tipped to become the next prime minister.

I wondered how I'd managed to miss the final-ever episode when they showed the penultimate one earlier in the year. Turns out I hadn't. According to the paper (well, the Express) it was postponed because it was felt it wasn't the right time to show it in the run-up to a general election.

Ah ha - Explains why it's S8 E2 and there's no sign of us having recently missed one!

Load of conspiracy theory cobblers.

Quite enjoyable to watch cobblers, though.

Not a 3.5 - would it not be the old IOE 2.6 straight 6?
Power for the new Rover 2000 comes from an entirely new four cylinder engine of simple, robust, single overhead camshaft layout. An excellent power output of 90 bhp. (installed) is developed at 5,000 rpm. and this is combined with extreme economy of operation.

I haven't seen the new series - didn't he drive a P5 in the previous one?
His first car was an early P5 3 litre.

...Nevermind. Perhaps for a season finale they could move on a year or two and investigate the murder of Jack Carter's brother, and the contract killing of Jack shortly after?...
I wrote that two years ago - and now he's dead, shot by a marksman on the NE shoreline. Spooky.

Good viewing, overwrought storyline, nicely done.

Was the DI from London a member of the Troughton family? Looked very familiar with the sunken eyes, and RADA-type voice.
