This third series has been excellent. Did anyone else recognize the social worker in the photo Steve Arnott had?
No, do tell....
I reckon it was Cottan, complete with beard and long hair.

Ooh controversial. Going to have to revisit that scene.

I'm not so sure, Cottan hardly reacted in the scene either. The picture was only there for a couple of seconds and they had little to no info on him, so why show it at all. Maybe it does have significance somewhere. I'm not sure it's Dot though.

2 to go.

I've been getting the feeling that the Cottan/Caddy thing is going to carry over to one final series.

However, up until now I thought it'll all continue to revolve around three untouchable/incorruptible rocks (Hastings/Steve/Kate) but the writing is doing a good job of casting doubts on Hastings and the future of Steve in the team.

I predict Steve to be pushed out, but Kate increasingly suspicious and not sure which side to trust. But Denton also beginning to think Steve is onto something so her and Kate end up putting heads together to find out what's going on, whilst Steve remains out of the picture.

Can't decide if the AC12 legal eagle is a part of it all as well, as she's seemed keen to break things up from the off. Morton's obviously still got a role to play as well. And I reckon Cottan is one of the abused at the home - not had chance to look again at the photo of them all though.

I think the opposite. He made a comment last night indicating that he was forced to join the force to be on the inside to help them.
I think he was either working with the abusers, or was blackmailed by them.

I thought he seemed too young tbh. That and his story of wanting to get on with his life and what he was saying to Morton about having always been involved in this from a young age.

Convincing accent switching by Cottan on the telephones between 'by heck' northern to cockney 'you slaaag'...

For me the best thing on tv right now by a mile. Unmissable.

So did DS Arnott plant the money bag to catch Denton? If so, he's just as guilty, surely, and therefore for the jump pdq?

Not good for the paranoia this one...

Or real life, the planted police mole actually happened in Nottingham. Carl Fellstroms' Hoods is a very good read if this subject interests you -

http://www.leftlion.co.uk/articles.cfm/title/hoods...

The irony is that you watch something like this on TV and think that'd never happen in real life, but it probably already has.

Back to the series, as others have already suggested my money is on Steve being fitted up by Dot at the end of this series and then the fourth series will conclude the whole story with Denton taking the lead again.

At the end of Series 2, Denton was shown receiving the money from Ackers (whilst Cottan was in the car outside) in flashback. As far as we know, Denton doesn't know or never met Cotttan in this capacity.

Personally, I don't think all the main characters will make it to the end. I have a feeling Cottan will bump off Denton as he thinks she might know too much, or maybe even Arnott.

(That isn't a spoiler btw - I have no idea - just my thoughts).

I reckon Steve is gonna get framed or something, and Kate probably end up turning her back on him. His already lied and been caught. Denton somehow will try save him..probably carry it on over to the next series.

Dunno what was the point of the Masonic handshake scene.

The ex-vice guy seemed to be stalling (asking them if they wanted tea, pissing about with his glasses) to fill the time before he arrived as he knew they would ease off with the boss in the room.

Martin Compston does a very convincing southerner accent, considering he's a Scotsman too

Don't understand why Harry admitted to the shooting, why didn't he just carry on replying no comment?
