Line of Duty (BBC Police Drama)

Assuming the plates on the car were actually Steves which would suggest he will be framed for shooting her, I would like to see how they are going to put him in a pool car with a firearm and that he managed to sign both out whilst being suspended.

I predict Steve to be pushed out, but Kate increasingly suspicious and not sure which side to trust. But Denton also beginning to think Steve is onto something so her and Kate end up putting heads together to find out what's going on, whilst Steve remains out of the picture.
Can't decide if the AC12 legal eagle is a part of it all as well, as she's seemed keen to break things up from the off. Morton's obviously still got a role to play as well. And I reckon Cottan is one of the abused at the home - not had chance to look again at the photo of them all though.

That's what I thought - but wasn't there someone looking at him suspiciously just after he signed the gun back in earlier? Maybe the form was taken/altered?Edited by KTF on Thursday 21st April 22:13

Even so it would have to be the same gun that he signed out plus they would have him on (I assume) CCTV signing the gun back in again. Then there would be the lack of residue on him, his clothes, etc. Cottan would be all over the car as well.Plus how could he sign out a pool car, drive it out the garage past others/the CCTV when he is no longer in the office. Wouldnt the docks also have CCTV showing the Volvo driving in with two people on one registration then its found with a different one?
But there does seem to be a degree or 'artistic' license' in so far as when Cottan punched himself in the face and pinned it on the other guy, you would think that they would check both parties hands to see if there was swelling and so on from the punch.
Mind you, volvo cars cant have been happy when one of their demos were returned with fake claret all over the insides

If you haven't yet seen S3/Ep 4, then ignore below: Edited by KTF on Thursday 21st April 22:13
I like how they film it, with certain clues given away in passing. In Ep 2 you saw a clear shot of Cotton's watch in the AC12 office. At the end of that episode the 'Cockney' at a callbox was on the phone to Hari, then hung up showing same watch, so we then got the reveal that it was Cotton pulling his strings.
Likewise last night Steve didn't really need to take a shooter to a funeral did he? However they dwelled on him both signing it out and, clearly, signing it back in again. It's a given next week that the shooter will have gone AWOL from the armoury and that sign-in paperwork will be nowhere to be seen, all to frame Steve.
Who will have pulled those strings though, Cotton or Hastings? I reckon Steve is going to get charged with Lindsay's murder next week, and that's how it will end.
Which neatly sets it up for S4, which has already been commissioned. EDIT: as stated above
In other news, anyone see Keeley Hawes on Graham Norton last week? She scrubs up very nicely, when not sporting Lindsay's dodgy barnet.

I agree the whole him taking the gun was drawn out and a bit silly - would an AC12 officer really take a firearm to the funeral on the off chance without telling anyone?
It going 'missing' would be bks. They are counted in and out and there is probably more than one person in the armoury plus CCTV.
How would you get them all to forget about the gap in the rack, would he not be able to prove he was nowhere near the docks at the time of the shooting (he is meant to be under surveillance after all) and so on.
Also how would they explain her having his pocket book - he shot her to get it back then forgot to collect it?

Plus DNA/fingerprints on rope, handcuffs etc. Lots more examples like this. Plot like a sieve.Still fun though.

At the risk of seeming really thick - could someone explain the Volvo thing to me? Did Cotton get hold of the actual car Arnott was still using whilst on suspension or was it identical? What was the point of the fake plates?
When Denton got in the car she said she thought the car was Arnotts but only when she got closer she noticed that the plates were different. Before Cottan does a runner he pulls off the false plates to reveal the real ones. Without going back through previous episodes on iplayer I dont know if they matched Arnotts Volvo or not - although if they were pool cars its a moot point that will no doubt be overlooked by the story writers.
