Be interesting to see how Bryan Daniels vs Triple H feud will go on, what excites me is Kane, Batista and Orton teaming up against The Shield, but on the other hand, I'm pretty certain Batista and Orton will be looking for the title too, why don;t they just bring back the World title and the WWE title, and plus I hate two belts.

I reckon the hardest task for WWE will be trying to think of the next steps for Brock Lesnar, its pretty obvious that Undertaker isn't in good shape, and may not even fight again. Maybe Undertaker can do a Kane and join the Authority? Possibly even bring back the 'American Badass' gimmick?

Saw it last night.

The Shield looked dominant. I want the old Kane back.
fk Cena, the reason people don't like him is that he always gets to win the huge matches, he's a great wrestler but he is not likeable for many people.
Hell yeah to Cesaro for lifting the Big Show out, that was the second best moment of the evening for me.
Bryan was odds on from the moment he beat HHH, but the little man must have ached the next day.

And WTF? When the Tombstone went in i thought the streak was safe. No one in the audience looked like they were expecting it, not even Hayman or Lesnar. If that is the last fight of the 'takers career it was a slow and not that riveting match compared to some of his previous efforts but the ending was so unexpected that the shock factor worked brilliantly.

I have not watched the WWE since about 2003. Recently I watched the 2014 Royal rumble(unfortunately).

What complete and utter fking crap the WWE has become! The wrestlers are all pathetic! Where have all the legends gone? Retired? The WWF used to be awesome with Stone cold, The Rock, Triple H, Undertaker, Big Show, Rikishi, Chris Jericho etc and of course....Stephanie & Trish.

Also WTF have they done to Kane!? When he entered the ring in the WWF and the stadium went red people used to st thereselves. Now he is what....drug addict? Clown? Pathetic.

Wrestling died along with the WWF name imo.

I don't regularly watch WWE these days, but the wrestlers they have in the post Attitude era are ridiculously camp.

The worst thing to happen was buying WCW - not only did competition go but the WWE became bloated.

of course the Atitude era to PG era didn't help either.

The whole "Smackdown vs Raw" thing was just st too, as were the "drafts" (like it's the fking NFL, come on) caused by having too many wrestlers and not enough air time to make them all stars. The Attitude era was perfect and will never be repeated. So many big names, intense action, the right numbers of big names and journeymen on the rosters etc, and an edge to the tone of the acting and story telling. It was so good at the time that it became even more mainstream than it is now, who wasn't enthralled by it in the 90s?

Yeah, the drafts helped me switch off way back, it was just so lame.
I realised way way back that Vince actually never had any good ideas or was any sort of a master creator. His phenomenal success was due to the stars he worked with, he was an extremely lucky person.

I consider the Austin/Angle/Rock time my second 'Golden time' watching it.

Loved those moments, they eclipsed the wrestling. Raw used to be essential viewing!

What a belter, look at Kurt Angle's little hat! Stone Cold was the best thing about the Attitude era imo, I know his body was falling to bits by the end, but I'm not sure they could sell a guy like Steve Austin outside the Attitude era, not without seriously watering down the character anyway.

yes
It was pure telly gold.
I recall SCSA chatting about his start in the WWE. It was after the awful 'Ringmaster' phase when he had had enough and he changed it and it went something along the lines of 'you wear your little black boots, and your little black trunks, and it's difficult to sell that.' And SC was 'I don't care, it's me it's what I'm gonna do.' And they basically left him to it and ignored him. Tried to push HHH and others over him, but it didn't matter because the audience loved him. HHH was meant to win KotR '96 but it was denied him as punishment for an infringement. SC cut his own winning promo (which I watched live) and it started off the 3:16 stuff. All that stuff was all pure him. And he slowly gathered momentum and was ignored for over a year, eventually as the company fell apart Vince realised how popular he was and it all turned around. biggrin
The absolute opposite of a chap like Cena, who had no natural talent to create beyond the physique and was given everything, which is why he stunk out the arenas for years.
I'll always remember the 'little black shorts, little black boots' interview, two years later he was the biggest star in wrestling. smile

Stone Cold used to look this at one point, thank fk he changed! Described as the 'most profitable wrestler in the company's history', even Ric Flair described him as 'the biggest star in the history of the WWE'

Shawn Michaels: enemy of trestle tables everywhere.

The "look how well everything is choreographed/executed" defense doesn't seem to be working in my attempts to convince mrs Cjelli that this is worthwhile viewing for our two mini-cjellis.

While the Rock appears to be the biggest commercial success, I can certainly recall a lot of his merchandise floating about around the year 2000, I think Austin was the rock that the Attitude era was built on and that is what pushed the company in megabucks, allowing them to buy out the competition and own the industry.

As for the athleticism of the stars, it is incredible. The balance, coordination and cardio fitness these guys have is immense, not the mention the resilience they need to have for injuries. If only they had something they could inject to help on that front...though the wrestlers do look a lot less roided than they did in the 90s, which in a totally non-homoerotic way I hasten to add, is a bit of a shame. The ludicrous physiques added to the "beyond reality" style of it. Some of the "stars" of today are right puddings.

RVD vs Wade Barret in the final for the shot at the Intercontinental title, I hope Barret has a good year, I quite like watching him.

The match I'm most looking forwards to is Evolution vs The Shield, should be wicked, feels great to have Evolution back, and looks like Triple H and Daniel Bryan rivalry put to this side, Bryan feuding with Kane, HOPE he doesn't lose the title at Extreme rules.

Most wrestling I've watched in years, whats the tag team division like at the moment? I remember the likes of the Hardys facing the Dudley Boyz and Edge and Christian in the legendary TLC matches.

Evolution vs Shield should be fking awesome.

The tag division is pretty weak ATM. The Usos are current champs but there matches are getting stale and only seem to battle The Rhodes Brothers or Rybaxel.

Anyone who doubts wrestlers are real athletes should be made to watch that. Incredible stuff, but I guess it's just too dangerous to be done on a regular basis
