£500 a week for that? yikes
Wasn't the £500/week on a previous property and the landlord moved them into the small flat?

Why are these chaps wearing white shirts, and stab vests with police type markings?

It's all about intimidation, I bet many people think they have got the same powers as the police so are most likely to give in to their bullying tactics.

Did anyone else think it was wrong of that Scottish one lying to the police about that taxi firm falsely imprisoning his partner? The one guy was upstairs talking to the owner and because the other bailiff was outside and not being allowed in he rung 999, makes you think what else they "Make up" when the cameras aren't about don't it.

I personally think the 'enforcers' come a cross quiet well. I can't imagine the sort of tension doing that job.

The authority of wearing a stab vest with dodgy false police markings, complete power trip from the geezer in the dodgy syrup., how someone hasn't already punched the fat fker with the rucksack I'll never know.

When she was saying she'd paid rent and he just asked if she'd paid any since xmas.

Not paid any rent since xmas, that will be why you're homeless then.

I strangely felt less sorry for her as it went on. She was relying on the woman she knew not having the strength to go through with kicking her out. Disgraceful behavior.

Typical "entitlement syndrome". Including the repairs, the landlord was eventually owed £10k in total, which she'll never see. And where was any housing benefit going? Bingo? Fags? That case was a good advert for NOT paying housing benefit to the claimant, if that's what was happening.

yes

It's stupid to the give the housing benefit straight to the tenant. Yet I understand that under the new Universal Credit arrangement this will become the norm.

In addition, if you receive help in paying your rent at present, this money goes directly to your landlord. Under universal credit, you will receive the money as part of your benefit payment and you will then have to pay your landlord.

I think the govt have been trying the new system in 3 or 4 areas as an exercise, and it's been a complete catastrophe. Arrears are far more widespread, because tenants are feckless and irresponsible, and simply spend the cash on themselves. Yet the govt are going ahead with the plan.

Not really a problem as before long private landlords will not rent to anyone on benefits, but this will create other problems.

There were clear mental health issues present, it wasn't deliberately dishonesty, the woman couldn't cope with getting out of bed in the morning.

This. the risks are just too great while the rent goes to the tenant rather than the landlord.
