The taxi driver worried that his ex would see his "files"! He's a black cab driver, what sort of files were they? Was he worried that she would see what he was earning, or was it just a "stall" device? The latter I suspect. What an a*sehole.

It was sad to see the Ethiopian family being chucked out when their rent was up to date. It seems to me that so many ethnic tenants fail to understand the paperwork, the processes and the systems of this country, not that many UK born-and-bred folks would understand it either. This couple really were victims of the court system.

How can the eviction of the Ethiopian family be legal? It is insane that the law of this country allows such a power to be given to landlords. Madness, utter madness.

Its dreadful the way single guys are treated too. The chap with mental health issues forced to sleep rough because the council had no emergency accomodation.

The programme made it clear that the family had been given a 12 month tenancy which had expired and hadn't been renewed as the landlord wanted to demolish the property and build something else.

The Ethiopian gent confirmed that he knew it was a fixed term tenancy that had expired but said they couldn't find anything else as they couldn't find a landlord willing to accept housing benefit with top ups from his income.

Its the system that's failed here due to the increase in property prices and the rise in private landlords who want or need to maximise their investment as its the key to their future.

Neither the landlord or tenant are to blame.

Its not the landlord's fault that the tenant can't find anything they deem suitable for the money they have available.

I do feel for them though. Seemed like decent people.

It would be interesting to do a "revisited" tyoe programme to follow up how these people fare in the following 12 months.

How any British citizen can be left to sleep on the street when we send billions overseas is beyond me. Some close to but many have no alternative and it's shameful.

It's a great series. I always admire the courageous restraint often exercised by the bailiffs. I quite fancy doing the job myself when I retire from my current one.

Those two older guys are splendid. They're a real credit to their profession. I couldn't do it, I'd lose my rag. I know the stuff we see is hand-picked and edited, but all the same the people they visit are invariably scumbags and (because I'm not a very nice person) I'm really pleased when they get their comeuppance.

I suppose you just have to remain detached. After all it isn't your money that you're trying to get - although I'd imagine they get paid extra on successful collection

Excellent start, just up my street. Loads of stuff suitable for the "Council" thread in The Lounge. The boyfriend all hyped-up and aggressive - dwarf in stature but not in gobsh*te.

Notice how quickly he shut his yap when that woman had a go at him?

Odious little fellow.

Definitely has small man syndrome. I presume the word defendant is offensive to him due to him being referred to as such many times previously. I think the bailiff would have been well within his rights to neutralise the threat.

The single mum situation was well handled - except IMHO there's no way she'll keep up the £120 pm payments. She's been in the flat for 4 years, it's a tip, no paint on the walls, no lampshade, boxes of stuff unopened. I sense mental health issues.

Given the volume of stuff they had in that house there was a bit of money kicking about, just not on the rent.

Nice of the boyfriend to come in and shout his mouth off but not offer the chance to stay at his place, guess it might affect their benefits?

I'm impressed they managed to keep calm and not just start laughing in his face.

The enforcement officers probably knew/guessed that - they just wanted to finalise their paperwork so they could get on to the next job.
