Mine is unlimited (3 discs) at £7.28pcm changing to unlimited (2 discs) for £7.99pcm from 1st Feb 2015... so a slightly increase in cost and a 1/3 drop in quantity given the turn-around time.
I've all ready cancelled my Prime subscription because of the Instant Video st which i dont use, and to be honest i've not used LoveFilm that much recently either, so this has just prompted me to cancel that as well. Great move Amazon!
Exactly the same for me. I've all ready cancelled my Prime subscription because of the Instant Video st which i dont use, and to be honest i've not used LoveFilm that much recently either, so this has just prompted me to cancel that as well. Great move Amazon!
Put on Prime a few months ago without asking which, when cancelled, meant the 3 disc service was reduced to £7.28.
It's probably still good value on its own and may not impact me that much as I don't watch more than 1 or 2 DVDs per week, but it still pisses of the customer when you reduce the service by 1/3 and put the price up.
Can't amazon, netflix et al get it into their heads that I don't want to stream stuff!
We had Prime for the delivery the streaming was not that interesting but we watched a few things. Not that much available for free.
Got towards the renewal date, had a fewIissues with their own delivery service, nothing really major but things happened that weren't very professional. For example leaving a book delivery tucked behind a wheel of a car parked on the drive but in full view of anyone walking by. We got home just as it started to rain, much longer and book could have got wet.
So cancelled it and now on pay as you go. Not missed at all. Shot themselves in foot with this one.

They have just took £79 off my wife for a service we have never asked for nor used. We have made one purchase through this crap tax dodging wage stealing company a long time ago but now they think we are friends.
I hate Amazon, I hate them with a passion. Luckily our bank is stopping this transaction but be careful out there kids just being able to log in makes you liable for payments using their train of thought.

You need to learn to read.essayer said:
If you get signed up to prime but never use it after the trial, they will refund it IIRC. Have a look in the help
We have Prime here, the delivery is good (+Sundays) but the film selection is very poor, it's a bit better for TV shows though.

You need to learn to read.It would appear after further investigation, that an old transaction from a purchase of something for less than £5 has something in the small print that signs you up for the prime service. Oh and allows them to change or amend the terms of service after you have agreed them.
We have never wanted nor asked for or even knowingly agreed to use Amazon prime, but as they had our bank details I think they thought they could do whatever they want.
They are quite clearly trying to abolish the discs by post side of things. Price rise and less discs contract starts next week.
From a business perspective it makes sense, the cost of buying discs even en masse, then what must be a fairly hefty postal contract for the Freepost returns etc must be significantly higher than just digital versions hosted on a server somewhere.
I personally still quite like getting discs in the post though.

Plus they have fairly up to date films on disc, unlike online. From a business perspective it makes sense, the cost of buying discs even en masse, then what must be a fairly hefty postal contract for the Freepost returns etc must be significantly higher than just digital versions hosted on a server somewhere.

It was only because she was telling me how good the free delivery was that I spotted she had signed up to amazon prime.

My mother got caught by this just before christmas. She made a purchase on amazon, ticked the box for free next day delivery not realising that "free delivery" was actually signing you up for a £70 charge for their streaming service.

The bank tells me that hundreds of people have been calling to complain/stop payments. They most certainly are not making it clear what you are agreeing to.It was only because she was telling me how good the free delivery was that I spotted she had signed up to amazon prime.
Seriously, Amazon will refund you if you start the free trial, fail to cancel it, then get charged £79 - provided you haven't continued to use the Prime delivery service

Note: Paid members who haven't used their Amazon Prime benefits, including the Kindle Owners' Lending Library, One Day Delivery and Prime Instant Video, will be eligible for a full refund.
No need to involve your bank.Flip Martian said:
Its always a 30 day free trial though. They don't take the 79 quid right away. Not defending Amazon at all but can't people read?
People very rarely read the terms and conditions of websites, especially when it's just a small purchase, they just click click click and done, It is what makes the internet so convenient.Have you read the terms and conditions/ posting rules on Pistonheads? I know I have not, and while it wasn't me that actually made the purchase so I have no idea what it looks like but a box popping up for a free trial would not make me think I was have anything but a free trial.
