Football (FA Cup Replay) is next Tuesday (27th) so I assume Shetland will be on Wednesday (28th)

Why the eff do they have replays for lesser games? Why not make them all extra time plus penalties, and save us this pissing around with the schedules?

Anyhoo...I guessed that the young lad wasn't his father's son, if you see what I mean. Nicely played by Perez with the Lego figure. Malone is not going to enjoy a quiet and peaceful life on the outside. And Tosh better not be flying into peril on her trip to Norway - give the poor girl a break. I liked her putting the receptionist and the HR ice maiden in their places.

BBC could've kept transmitting BBC3 to mess with it's schedules for these occasional games, or messed with BBC4, maybe BBC2 or streamed the game live on iplayer/BBC sport website. Why this assumption that the football is the bigger audience draw, it's not as if they can claim advertising revenue as a factor.

However, I suspect that their expensive footie contract is written that all games are shown live on their premier channel.

Yes, that was a bit obvious when they started drawing it out.

Nice backdrops and scenery and the like, but it always looks so cold. I wonder if they couldn't do a job-swap with Death in Paradise and have the more serious storyline but a warmer climate.

So what did others think of the latest series?

I enjoyed it, well written and acted and enough to make me really want another series!

Really liked it I think stretching it to 6 is 2 too many though.

Yes, excellent, one of the few to keep me interested throughout. Always good to have a twist or two at the end.

I enjoyed it, possibly more than previous series though I can't really remember much about them.

The first few were 2 parters
The last one which was 2 years ago was I think 4 parts that had a great plot - very dark

I thought it was too stretched out, personally.

2 or 4 parters are enough.

They seemed to retread ground far too often in this series.

Still very watchable, but less episodes (or more plot) per story would be better, I think.

I've been complaining about various series recently where a small, basic plot gets dragged over 6 or 8 weeks just because.

But I can honestly say that Shetland is so well done, acted, written, that I wish there was more of it.

Now another year until some more.

Mind you - who knew how many murders happen in Shetland!!!!

I'm going to disagree. There are loads of slick 2-part detective-type shows. I like that Shetland is a bit more drawn out, a bit more thoughtful.

I also like that the lead isn't a "maverick policeman". I get fed up with all TV coppers having to be damaged renegades who go against the rules...sometimes its good to see them get their man (or woman) the old-fashioned way by asking questions, thinking and doing some work.

There is only one bit that it thought was superfluous and that was...

Why did Thomas have a heart attack at the end? Seemed a bit unlikely (he was early 40s, relatively fit and active and wasn't doing anything strenuous at the time) and it was pointless inasmuch as it wasn't needed to move the plot on or anything

Agree with that last point. They could have at least had him going to hospital with his lady friend outside the room and left it at that. But to kill him off just seemed a bit unnecessary and pointless

Seemed really likely, utterly believable situation - for all of us the relief of a huge burden could trigger it.......

Unlike some long running BBC dramas this one continues to be of a high standard. Looking forward to it.
