The host of the TV debate show discussing the crime was a lot scarier than the convicted killer.

Reading up on the case in more detail, the TV program gave a very simplistic view of the trial.

The prosecution alleged that he committed the murders, the defence argued that it couldn't all have been done by one person. I actually came away from it thinking that both were correct.
It was a tough one to make a call on , but there were some strange points , the shotgun , and that he said to the police they had been beaten to death when the police on the scene thought they had been shot ,,,,,
I thought that maybe one of the other family members helped him kill some of them, and then he also killed them. Or they were all in some kind of fight. But that's a pretty wild theory.

I was incredibly shocked when the guilty verdict was read out for all counts as it was 50/50 for me (but thought he was not guilty), and I thought that without DNA evidence they would not be able to convict.

I was amazed when the two women admitted they were confused by all the evidence, and that one of the men said he was changing his mind every few minutes. It really didn't come across as a good justice system.

Long shot but did anyone catch / can you identify the music that was playing when the documentary was building up to the verdict was announced?

Some kind of symphony. Heard it a few times can't identify it

Re. Saying he knew they were beaten during the 911 call. He did go In There and he did describe his dad as being tore up. It would be pretty easy to work out that they were beaten. Don't think that evidence was very strong.

Shot gun was odd though. Maybe blood on shorts but he did go in there and there was a lot of blood

I dont think he did it. Defo not by him self . Surely some of them would have tried to run away? He would have had to restrain them while he savegly beat each one.

Did not seem as if police investigated whether anyone else was involved or not. Quite content to try and stick it on him.

Glad he didn't get the death penalty. Thought the older juror had made up his mind at the start.

Hopefully he'll get a re trial.

I watched it. Thought it was done well.

You may also like '14 Days in May' which you can probably find on YouTube. Makes last nights offering look positively lightweight.
I watched '14 Days In May' last night on youtube - very powerful stuff, particularly the last few minutes when the accused was in the waiting cell minutes before his execution and everyone was trying to make small talk!

Was he not high on drugs at the time, which from what I have read, can increase adrenaline levels which can make you 'possess super human strength'. Just seemed to be ignored

I'd agree with this, but 7 people murdered in what is effectively a caravan - none of them woke up?

Can't imagine being clubbed to death being a particularly quiet death either.

It was very strange - not sure which way I would have gone. Lots of circumstantial evidence but not a lot of "proof".

I just watched it.

The impression I got from the girls was that they were overwhelmed/sensory overload because of all the autopsy evidence.

The guy who kept changing his mind - he was pointing out that there was strong evidence from both sides.

It's a long trial that was edited down to 75mins. When they replaced the juror it was effectively a re-trial which was completely skipped over.

If you've not seen it yet The Murder Trial is still up on 4od http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-murder-tria...

I've just watched '14 days in May' and as a result of reading previous posts found it totally harrowing. Ed Johnson, on the basis of being innocent, showed amazing calmness knowing he was going to be executed (killed) for something he didn't do - I know I couldn't do that. This film is a stand alone reason I couldn't accept the death penalty, even when knowing some people deserve it.
