I always start out trying to type a reply that Stephen Fry would be proud of and end up posting something like that! In keeping with that tone, she is rather lovely apart from sounding like Kate Nash. Then again, Jane Asher circa 1970 is pretty much my idea of perfection..

I have no idea, none.
I asked the same question not long after she did a hard hitting expose on the coke market in South America, she bumbled about the place, virtually stepping on a drug factory before she saw it "oooo" whilst some bored looking solders ran about pretending they didn't already know it was long abandoned before she did some 'hard hitting' words to camera...
And it would take Colombo to read between the lines (if you excuse the pun) that she knew quite a bit about how it all worked back in the UK for the end user.

Googling Stacey Dooley comes up with this related video "Stacey Dooley - Braless side peek" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ppa2eOocpOIShe seems sweet/pleasant enough - but I remember watching her investigation into the impact of the recession in Greece, and it really was very poor. Perhaps better suited to presenting on cBeebies or Milkshake.
Its like a mockumentary. Think theyve made a new niche reality tv show where they try to show someone so completely ignorant the world, and hope others respond to it who are just as hopeless.
Maybe other presenters come across too 'high brow'?
But by having someone so inept present, viewers can feel on the same level, like they are experiencing the same situations out of their comfort zone?
But even if that is the case, the scenarios are SOOO contrived and staged, felt as they were about to hold up cut out characters and shout "their behind you!"
Complete pharse >_<

She's easy on the eye, but I just can't take her seriously in a journalistic role. I caught the end of her show last week where she was talking about corruption in Ukraine, and at one point she was interviewing the fella in charge of the anti-corruption bureau. She saunters into this board room wearing casual clothes whilst the officials are there in suits. She then starts asking quite basic questions, and the interview shortly concluded without much being established.
The whole time though I was sat thinking "I'd rather Paxman or someone 'professional' was sat there doing this interview".
I can see why she's doing these shows though, its so younger people can get an idea of the things that are going on in the world that aren't on the news so much, but in a way that isn't boring/baffling.
I'm in my thirties now and an interest in politics and unreported things such as her topics has grown, and when I watch such shows I want gritty details and tough questions. Ten years ago though I'd have only had a passing interest at best, and would just be bored or confused by the more gritty details, so hearing her just scratching the surface of a topic would have been just right for me.

I said this last time i had the misfortune to record this lightweight. Why on earth is she presenting a serious BBC investigative programme?
Is she related to one of the troughers in charge?
Perhaps part of the diversity quota?

Yes, pandering to the twee quota for Mumsnet types. Is she related to one of the troughers in charge?
Perhaps part of the diversity quota?
