Rosie Fellner = posh boat girl
Claire Keelan = Steve's PA
Ronni Ancona = Steve's agent
I should add..I'm responding to the statement: "Er, you do realise that everybody they interact with is an actor?"Claire Keelan = Steve's PA
Ronni Ancona = Steve's agent
Which is just tosh.

I like Coogan, I like Brydon, I love Italy, I love food, I love cars. So why do I hate The Trip? It just seems so self indulgent, sycophantic and with no substance. Perhaps its because it's on the publically funded BBC. Maybe it's just because I'm jealous.
I've had similar feelings. But I got told off. GetCarter said:
Apols. She's not credited. Will ask why.
We know it's all a fake, a well rehearsed 'as if', but they interact with 'real' (non actor) people, which is what makes it so fun.
Ok, I'll revise what I said:We know it's all a fake, a well rehearsed 'as if', but they interact with 'real' (non actor) people, which is what makes it so fun.

everybody they interact with who isn't a waiter is 'acting'.
Brydon is not carrying out an affair on the BBC, unless it is a very clever double-bluff and probably doesn't constantly do impressions and sketches either.
Found a 20 minute interview with Steve Coogan & Rob Brydon about The Trip to Italy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5dDTk0vkNM
From that I gather it's mainly improvised, with the main over-arching narrative decided beforehand.

I enjoyed The Trip, the Italian one I found unwatchable, self-indulgent, unoriginal and ultimately boring. ofcorsa said:
I loved it. I did find the scene where Rob tells the story of his affair to Steves PA jarring though. Was almost bragging. We've seen nothing to suggest Rob was a close confidant.
agreed. Slightly unpleasant and creepy with her earlier on too.He sort of tried it on with her in the first series, which seemed out if 'character' at the time and my wife found shocking.

I agree with all of this except I enjoyed it...! I enjoyed it because I reasoned it was all made-y uppy and therefore pure entertainment.Too many times I've heard Coogan interviewed and he just hates doing impersonations 'in his own time' ie. whilst trying to enjoy a nice meal with a friend (or friends) or family etc.
Or it's a triple bluff...

Can you say that again but as Pierce Brosnan?"Oh, Gosh, errr, weell...."
"Nah then, I found the Italian one, unwatchable, self-indulgent, unoriginal and, ultimately, bloody boring Master Bruce"...
That's me done for the day!
I really enjoy it - Nothing much happens, but it's rather enjoyable.

It's almost all real, according to some people Too many times I've heard Coogan interviewed and he just hates doing impersonations 'in his own time' ie. whilst trying to enjoy a nice meal with a friend (or friends) or family etc.

When was the original series shown (I mean the one set in Britain)?
I thought it was within the last 12 months or so - but the programme about 50 years of comedy on BBC2 said it was 2010.
Somebody please tell me I saw it as a repeat, rather than that the last four years have just gone by at 4 times the usual speed.
