James Bond usually has some great opening scenes, most notably diving off the dam in Goldeneye and skiing off the cliff and a union jack parachute opening in The Spy Who Loved Me.

A vote for Star Wars Episode IV as well.

The scrolling text, the Rebel ship, then the Imperial Starcruiser coming into view from above.

ILM at it's finest.

Yes, Once Upon a Time in the West

I believe it's also one of the longest intros too.

And I don't know about you, but I always get off a train like this when I'm being met by someone. biggrin

Zombieland is also great.

I wouldn't call it the best, but Lord of War has a very clever title sequence

"Django" (1966) - a mysterious man dragging a coffin across a desert over the opening credits and the awesome title song.

I've always like Carlito's Way for a good beginning. Juice but that's probably the DJ in me.
