Hugely enjoyable programme, best on TV since Sherlock.

Slightly worried though that it hasn 't been renewed in the states yet.

It was only ever meant to be one season?

I've figured out why I don't trust the policeman who let BBT go in that police stop at the start. He was one of the baddies in Dexter, the God bloke who did all of the 7 deadly sins thing to bring the end of the world.

He was also the professional standards guy that was on a mission to close down Gibbs and his team in NCIS.

I am becoming slightly aware that a large part of it it based on just how dim everyone is. Even the clever ones are only made to look that way by everyone else being one rung above brain dead. I do wonder if I lived in that town I'd be Major, and Sheriff, and Rich Successful Business Owner, and.....I'm sure I'm not really that intelligent but I'd be a king in that place. Has anyone been to that area of the US, and are they really that daft?
Visited Minnesota for work a couple of times. It's a big place and if you grew up in a small town like Bemidji (pop. 13,000 wiki) and are 100 miles from the nearest city (Duluth, pop. only 100,000) then you'll have a very different exposure to the world compared to the average brit.

Nice people - pretty well captured in Fargo. Very different attitude to hunting & shooting!

Really enjoyed the whole series so far and Billy Bob in particular is great, so threatening and creepy for someone so slight of build and normal looking.

I would cross the street if he was heading my way.

That explains why I keep thinking I'm looking at a very young Tom Hanks then! biggrin

It's the way he does it without any overt threatening body language or raising his voice. All in the face /eyes.

Detail is good. Like when they were looking at the pastor's website. Such an obvious photo shop.

Yes, he's brilliant in the part, it's perfect for him. I loved the bit where Grimley approached him, and as he was on the phone he just casually brushed his fringe back - just a tiny hint of the change that was to come with his acting innocent as Frank Peterson at the police station.

"Do I look like I want a pink radio?" hehe

He's absolutely made for the part. Fantastic acting!

For someone who has never watched the movie, would you suggest waiting until the series finishes, or is the series so loosely based on the movie it wont matter much?

So far, the only link to the film is the money buried in the snow. The plot is different, so I don't think it wouldn't spoil the TV show by watching the movie. The movie is a fav of mine, but have to say I'm really enjoying the series. I guess having the Coen bros are exec producers plays are big part in retaining the feel, characterisations and music.

And that is just a nod, the time frame is way out.

Overall...Fargo is impressive, it has that slightly odd off-kilter feel of a Coen Bros film.
I had thought it might stink too!

I bought the DVD of the film from HMV for £2.99 yesterday. It has a bonus documentary called 'Minnesota Nice" which has interviews with many of the actors and the Cohen brothers. They're from Minnesota themselves.

I'll watch the film again once the TV series has finished.
