Part way through S5 Ep1, amused to see more than a nod to scenes from the original film.

In particular the start of the kidnap sequence had me in deja vu moment.

Probably going to be another good one.

I gave up on S4 halfway through the second ep. It was doing absolutely nothing for me.

S5 trailer looks like it’s back to form.

S5- 1 and a bit through. Absolutely awesome I'd say, loving it. The guy from Madmen (Jon Hamm) and Juno Temple are absolute stand out.

Fargo is back in the game!

Watched the first two episodes, and right back to being what Fargo is all about. Love the nods to the original film, like the tannoy message in the car dealers biggrin .
Have high hopes for the rest of the series now.

Love those nods back to the original film and the earlier series. Can be disappointed though, like when the two kidnappers were in the car, was waiting for the guy with the burnt head say he needed "unguent." Then remembered they'd done that in Season 1 of the TV version when Lester goes to the pharmacy for something to deal with his infected hand wound.

More generally it's really getting back to the seemingly polite threats and venom filled eyes of season 1.

Quite a few characters that so far appear to be real pieces of work, eg the mother in law from hell.

Just watched first 2 eps back to back. I’m in!!

They’ve remembered that the first ep has to grab you, like the TV (or was it air con?) meets gravity end of ep1 scene a while back.
Great chat between DIL and MIL. Fargo do politely deranged well. Lots of antagonistic parties too, all the ingredients are there.

Edit: it seems we’ve all to step back in time as only 2 eps are available. Thought this was streaming TV? WTF?

Yup. After the debacle of S4 I thought it was gone for good.
I didn’t realise it’d changed to Amazon until I stumbled across it after watching Reacher S2

tbh I didn't realise it was on Prime either, Amazon should highlight the fact it's available (compared with the usual dross recommendations they have on the homescreen).

I'm finding this season ok but all the male characters seem to be portrayed as being completely inept.

I wouldn’t say that. John Hamm comes across as being thoroughly menacing without breaking into a sweat. Gator otoh is an idiot whose comeuppance can’t be far off.

True, I thought he was menacing in the first couple of episodes but has got less so further into the series.

The Ole Munch character is quite odd as well with the flashback scenes in the UK, will be interesting to see where his character arc goes.

Gator is just incompetent.

I like Jon Hamm's character in a strange way, thoroughly unpleasant and menacing whilst appearing to be polite yet simultaneously consistently rude and dismissive. Like he deals with the m-i-l's lawyer as "The guy named after a pastry." Or something along that line.

I'm up to date on this now. The mother in law character is bloody brilliant! Really well played.

How far did it get on Netflix - Season 3 ?

ETA. I've just found it on Amazon and relaise I'd only watched S1-3 which I found were very good. Season 4 having watched Ep1 and partway through Ep2 I'm on the fence with it. It's completely different to the earlier stuff and wonder whether or not it will 'build a storyline' as it goes to make it as good as the earlier stuff?

Is Season 5 all available to stream or are we being drip fed?

Imo season 1 and 2, plus the original film with Frances McDormand as the police chief are all brilliant.
Season 3 not as good but still better than a lot of other offerings.
Season 4 as you say different, some individual good characterisations but at times odd, and for me below par. Note that's below par *for Fargo* so still worth watching.
Season 5 is right back on top form. As it's being drip fed, to answer another question, every week I'm just on the hook for release of next episode.
