Complicated plot
Discussion
I think 'confusing' and 'complicated' are different.
A lot of films are confusing to poor editing.
I recall finding Naked Lunch confusing, and therefore frustrating and ultimately disappointing.
A film with a good complex story is brilliant, and rewarding.
Big Sleep = complex
Naked Lunch = confusing

Revolver.
Probably Guy Richie's most confusing piece of work. I've seen it three times and still struggle with certain parts.
Also Akira; but then the Japs are a bit mental.
You watched that 3 times? Oh sod that - I watched it once, got the suspicion that there might be some greatness buried in there somewhere, but there's not it's just a terrible plot, same goes for the Matrix sequals... Pulp Fiction is complicated to watch, but only because of the non-linier nature of it, if you watch it in the correct order it's reasonably straight forward.
Donnie Darko had me scratching my head.
Trance:
Its on SKY on Demand right now.
Some bizarre storyline going on right there. Its about a bungled heist of a painting where he gets knocked out, suffers neurological issues and forgets where he hid the painting - leading to the criminals getting a bit uppity.
Sounds simple enough?
Watch it and find out how weird it gets.

This is why I watched it three times. I actually liked it, but only because of Mark Strong's performance.irocfan said:
I don't recall having a problem with Akira - but Memento <shudder>
I love Akira, thus I inflict it on anybody that hasn't seen it. 75% of people I've suggested it to don't 'get it'. While the first half is pretty straightforward, the last half is all over the place.Donnie Darko was complicating but was also pants IMHO so it got to a point where I didn't care.
Departed and Unusual Suspects are two films which are more complicated the second time round IMHO as I find myself knowing the outcome (duh seen it once) but trying to figure out if I missed some minute detail first time round. I'm basically just rewatching for the clues.
