Oh stop the beardage...it was a great restoration and streats ahead of anything else on TV for a Sunday evening. Really enjoying this series. Whatshisname is a good presenter, I like his dry sense of humour.

Is it used in Saving Private Ryan? Or another war film? I seem to remember it from a film (it's probably used in loads to be fair)

I think it is also played on Remembrance Sunday.

Usually always played as part of the Remembrance service at Albert Hall and Cenotaph so probably where you are associating with war.

Can't remember if it was used in SPR though?

Is that the old Thatcham test site, that they use for the group driving etc segments?
The scene where all the Landies drove together and they gathered at the bottom of steep ramps (in the pouring rain) I'm pretty sure was Longcross. I've rallied there and we serviced at the bottom of those ramps (also in the pouring rain)!

So why wasn't this snippet of info part of the show?

It was an OK hour of TV for me - would rather have seen more of the mechanical resto work but then I guess it wouldn't have been a primeish time C4 show if they made it the way I wanted!

Glenister comes across as a bit of a nob in this. Seems like he really can't be arsed but his agent thinks it's a great idea.

WTF was he waffling on about?

It took 40+ years to look the way it did. Why wipe that history away?
I have to agree. It's good to see the resto guy putting in so much effort and thought but with stuff like this it should be put back as it was built. How many of them were built in this spec, nowhere near as many standard green ones I'm sure.
Still a good show, I thought the Escort last week turned out great.

Not a car bloke at all, but a nice tie-in with his other work. His agent must swing with a certain swagger.

Even though we don't get to see too much of the oily bits , the finished result is head and shoulders above Wheeler Dealers and Classic Car Retards .

Glenister may not be the ideal presenter but his couldn't care less attitude means the car and enthusiasts featured shine through , so in a way that's a good thing , the show is not about him.

The fact the Landy made £40k+ at auction when the guide price was almost 1/3rd of that is testament to the quality of the finished item

They certainly showed more of the restoration bits than last weeks' show. Although I have little interest in Land Rovers, I enjoyed the episode very much, and the end result was stunning!

This series is streets ahead of comparable so-called car restoration programmes. It's easy to pick holes in it, but for me it makes enjoyable Sunday evening viewing. Glenister is OK and the mechanic chappie is likeable, modest and looks to be pretty capable. A nice contrast to the bodging idiots, staged 'mishaps' and crappy standard of work on Classic Car Rescue.

Also, i am really liking the lack of Faux crisis, that so many other shows seem to feel the need to invent and insert, usually in completely obvious fashion, into their editting!

That's very 'Channel 5', isn't it? Fabricated arguments and drama, along with endless repetitive summing up in case we are too feeble minded to remember the drivel that we saw before the too frequent and too protracted commercial break.
