I thought she *should* get off on the broken yellow line, it was always the case that the wording was "Acceptable variations; none".
Has anyone got a link to the judgement that changed this? I think the adjudicator may have been blagging it...
Common sense would suggest that the break was much too far away from where she was parking. Has anyone got a link to the judgement that changed this? I think the adjudicator may have been blagging it...
So what the lady was told by the cops originally was incorrect or has changed?
Those Parking Marshalls actually seem like a good idea - a quick word t move along could work just as well as a straight up fine. Whoever designed the Police station with no parking deserves a bloody good slap, and a permit scheme would only move the problem a few streets away. I can understand the resident's frustration, although watching them getting indignant at having to pay £20 a year was rather amusing.

We don't know what was said, and where she was parked when it was said.So what the lady was told by the cops originally was incorrect or has changed?

It certainly used to be the case that any defect on a line invalidated the whole thing, I'd be interested to find the case that changed this. I'm of the opinion the adjudicator was wrong. It would be useful to know the correct answer.

Here's something about it - http://www.appealnow.com/parking-tickets/parking-t...Even at the higher courts it could depend on what judges you get - some will say the letter of the alw should be applied to - others will allow minor ifnractions taking into account that a LA may realitically have difficulty keeping on top of every line AND it was obvious it was a no parking area.
similar to the OFT v Purely Creative where the UK Court of Appeal said a 'free prize' can include minor costs in order to claim it - whereas the European Court said Free means free and there should be no cots to claim (http://www.olswang.com/articles/2012/11/watch-out-points-for-prize-promotions/).

Police station with no parking.... Guess they thought that everyone would catch the bus. Morons.
Lack of planning in relation to parking may have something to do with the station being funded by Tesco.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1341537/Te...

The nerve of people stopped by the bailiffs to then have a go about being forced to pay the amounts. If they had paid the first ticket at the right time then it could have saved them a few quid
The thing is the woman bailiff kept saying "Its not down to us"...er yes it is, the majority of the £500+ bill is bailiff charges!!Is the guy complaining about the parking down his street the OP of this thread?

Although he does seem to think that it's 'his' street and no-one else can park there.
