I've seen the threads below for 'Friday Night Lights' and 'Six Feet Under', two shows I've never seen

That said, Lost and Breaking Bad are about the only ones I've properly followed

So, which other masterpieces (I know Lost wasn't one) have I missed that need to be added to the must watch list?

It was only made for one series but ''Firefly'' is excellent.

Definitely. Loved this programme. Was it ever on in the UK?

The Shield is ace.

I'm now halfway through season 5 of 7 (it's ended) and it hasn't once slowed down or become boring.

And apparently it has one of the best endings of any series ever (although I'm not there yet, of course...)

Deadwood is pretty decent. The final series never got made, but it's still worth watching the first three. There's some really great characters in it, especially Ian McShane's.

Well I never knew that. A mate of mine was working in the US for quite some time and told me about OZ - he brought me back the boxset on DVD and when the OH was pregnant we'd have "Oz days" where we'd watch about 5 episodes back to backlaugh

Completely different, but Band of Brothers is definitely worth a watch. The Wire is a good shout - Sopranos is another one I've got the boxset of but just never got round to watching.

American Horror (especially the first 2 seasons) is pretty good - 3rd season not so much but the upcoming 4th one sounds great (1950s freakshow).

Boardwalk Empire I've really enjoyed - the OH hates it though.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned Game of Thrones. I didn't get into this the first time round but I've started downloading the series from Sky. Currently halfway through season 3 and I think it's excellent.

I'll also throw Lost into the mix. The ending aside, some of it was superb. At some point, when I've got more time on my hands I might watch it again. Bits of it might even make sense next timelaugh

I do find watching boxsets far more enjoyable than watching 1 episode a week. Probably why I rarely get into TV series 1st time around.

Similarly political, The Newsroom and House of Cards.

Have thoroughly enjoyed both.
