WOW! This series is very good, great acting all round. Yes a bit far fetched in places but great drama. And to think I nearly didn't watch it because it was from 'up north'.

written and directed by Sally Wainwright - what did you expect? She is the lass behind Scott and Bailey on ITV. Great gritty drama.

Loving HV - Good to see George Costigan on screen again (should he be on TV more often?) Simon Pemberton as Kevin and the brilliant Sarah Lancashire. Not forgetting Georges old colleague from "Rita, Sue and Bob Too" and Simons from "Benidorm", Siobhan Finneran.

Its grisly and brutal in places but thats part of the animal appeal I guess.

Sarahs line to that knob end ex-con with the dirty blond highlighted hair was brilliantly scripted and spoken not a moment too soon I think for the viewer " i'll cut off your cock and make you swallow it".

I wonder whether she survives next week and whether Ann will be safe in the police car once laughing boy gets the pepper spray out of his eyes?

Tommy Lee Royce must be one of the most hateful villains we've seen on TV for a long time.

Very good but sloppy detailing to save time, kidnap interview in the cafe? Further interview with Nev same, tommy Lees mum didn't take long to say they have a doggy in the feller etc - but a great watch.
Damn, must have missed that bit...what type of dog? Which fella did they put it in?

Great ending - edge of the seat stuff. Best copper drama this year?

Reading the posts since this weeks episode and its like people have somehow tapped into my thoughts.

I was discussing this with my mum earlier, I can't ever remember hating a TV character so much in memory. I just want to spit at the TV when he is on, what a vile .

Also I was almost shaking at the end of the episode. I don't think she is dead but she did take a smacking.

I've been catching up on this over the weekend.
Last week's episode where she took a beating in the cellar had me whincing like, well, like I was there.... it's had some pretty disturbing scenes so far, the murder of the young PC up there, too.

Another good part - the make-up on Ms Lancashire is good, and she's playing a blinder imho.

The interaction with the grandson is a good touch, and now the 'victim' could be another poor wretch left with a permanent reminder...

So I'm predicting he goes after the kid and has a long slow death struggle with the wpc. Should have wrapped itself up

This has been an excellent series so far. Although, I wouldn't have thought with that amount of bleeding he would have been able to get up and leave that house.
