I didn't understand why they didn't charge the PE teacher with his wife's murder? The blackmail charge was unrelated.
Because he didn't do it.
True, but he might have done eventually if someone hadn't done it for him!

I did think it deserved another episode or a longer final episode, but I still thought it was great.

I didn’t watch the first two series but decided I couldn’t leave it if everyone in the press and people I know were raving about it. I caught up on iplayer so that just finished ep5 of series 3 at 9.00 on Sunday night and could therefore see the finale ‘live’.

Although series 3 didn’t have the tension of the previous 2, you were always wondering what plot twists there could be.

It certainly kicked Line of Duty into touch with its ‘H’ letdown and stupid use of acronyms.

The police didn't have a time of death, they had a window from the evening before when the girls last saw her to the next day when the body was discovered so he wasn't at school during all of that time.
They didn't have a time of death at the time. You would imagine that they did have by the next episode? biggrin

I think because they had so many endings lined up something was lost in editing

On the evidence the police actually had, the PE teacher was bang to rights for his wife’s murder.
I dont think murderers put the body in the garage and then willingly allow a detective to enter the garage.....

He had a cast iron alibi I expect. He was at school with numerous witnesses.
.
The chemist's alibi is maybe shaky, his DNA found on her body, CCTV or neighbours testifying to him leaving or entering the murder house, his involvement in drug criminality, it's not quite a slam dunk.

I wonder if both men could be charged and a jury decide which one is more guilty, and if the jury is locked then a Dance Off or Penalties.
If two people are charged then there is already reasonable doubt for both.
