Thoroughly enjoyed it overall though I would have liked to have seen a litle bit more on the origin of the vampyres etc. (being picky though!).

The one thing that has stood out for me aside from Eva Green's acting has been the sets they've used. I wouldn't normally comment on something like that but have been blown away with the representation of that period.

Can't wait for the next series.

I think it's set in the same year as Guy Ritchie's Sherlock, as in both Penny Dreadful and Sherlock, London Bridge seems to be in the process of being built... hehe

Only thing I've found difficult is that Eva Green has one of those 'constantly drunk' faces, makes me feel uneasy laugh

Tower Bridge? wink

I just wondered about the English gun purveyor using a French measuring system.
Did the gunsmith make it, or import it though?

I haven't noticed it being built in the series but "new" London Bridge was built between 1824 and 1831.

Sir Malcom bought a 7.63mm broom handle Mauser C96 last night, which was not produced until 1896.

Oooh that's quite interesting! I noticed the shopkeeper did take him into the back and say the gun was a prototype. Could that take it back a year or two?

Just read above they say Tower Bridge, again I can't recall it in Penny Dreadful but that was built 1886–1894 so it makes the Mauser historically correct if it's towards the end then.

I'm sure the exact date was mentioned in the first serie somewhere.

There's references to recent ripper stuff so 1891 is fair.

Intriguing.
"It’s a really big cosmology, and it’s going to get bigger next year. There are four characters in the middle - Sir Malcolm, Vanessa, Ethan and Dr. Frankenstein. Those characters will remain in the middle, but there’s a great antagonist for next year, which is going to be played by Helen McCrory, who you saw introduced this year, but there are things that will be revealed about her character. She was very deliberately planted this year to become the Season 2 antagonist. The Season 1 antagonist was an inhuman character. I think it’s going to be good for the storytelling and the characters to have a more human antagonist. Maybe four years down the road, you can spin something off, but I like its sprawlingness. That’s what’s fun about it. It’s a show that you can crawl inside of, and then just live there. We’re only just getting started. There are so many places. Season 1 spent a lot of time just bringing characters on screen and touching on them. Season 2 will really be about deepening those relationships, and the complications between the characters."
