On the back of that (which told us nothing really), I watched a few interviews with Eva Green on YouTube. I never fawn over stars or beautiful women but she *really* floats my boat.

OK I've stuck with it.
fking hell it's slow. No tension builds, and I don't care what happens. I will sit through the last one as the missus will be watching but it's style over substance.
Agreed. Watched this earlier in the year. It was awful; jumps about all over the place, very slow, Dorian Gray bit seemed to have been shoe-horned in purely so they could have a 'porn episode', I couldn't have cared less by the end.

I won't be watching Series 2. I'm surprised it got greenlit, truly.

I thought that this would be right up my street, as I usually lap up stuff like this.

I have watched the first series twice now, and I still don't like it much - great to look at for sure, but I think that the problem is, for me at least, is that there are absolutely no truly likable characters! I can't even begin to relate to any of them.

Anyone watching series 2? Just watched the episode with Eva Green and the old witch, pretty impressed tbh. Looks like this is taking over from Fortitude as my Friday night quality viewing.

Season 1 was all over the place, season 2 is much better so far. Seems to have a bit of a plot this time!

Really enjoyed that one.

On paper, Penny Dreadful just isn't the sort of thing I should like (Eva Green aside spin ), but I'm really enjoying it. It's been incredibly well done.

I bulk watched the first three eps this weekend, and that was my thought as well. Even with the token American it works well.
I am interested in the witches despite myself..and that scene with the doll...jesus that was creepy, I thought for a moment she was gonna make a demonic doll that moved!

Love all the Egyptian stuff connection with the vampires. In this mythos there are creatures from other dimensions that we give names like the 'devil?'

As good as GoT if you ask me.

Acting is top notch.

Green is sooo sexy.

Seems no end as to where they will go or how they will shock you.

Endless avenues where the story can go.

In the flashback episode last week Vanessa met face to face with Madame Kali who wanted her dead then, so why didn't she react when Madame Kali held the seance around the table in series 1?

I don't think Ms Ives at any point saw Kali's face.

I did wonder over this as I watched it, and of course at the seance, yeah, they saw each other.
In that scene posted she had the hood on and it was a decent distance away in poor light at the cottage. At the end scene when Vanessa confronts the witches the head witch backed away and pulled the hood deeper.
