How the hell did Tracey know EXACTLY where that candle and matches where, considering the flat was in darkness when she entered?
Did I miss this - Did Tracy light the candle? And the scene where Cal went back inside was nonsense - never mind how long it took for them to go down/not go down the ladder...

would the fire investigators be able to tell that it was a candle that started a bad fire like that,
It's all Carla's fault. Style over substance. More interested in the decor of the lampshade, rather than its propensity to catch fire. Typical high-maintenance woman. Hang her. I agree with the comments about the acting - the last few nights have been appalling, even by soap standards. In reality, the crowd in the street would have been screeching and shouting amidst much wailing and weeping. As has been said - we got dumb silence.

I have watched Coronation Street for nearly 40 years, and this has to be the WORST acting/ storyline I have ever seen. I found myself criticising nearly every scene: e.g
Tracey just blurting out to Liz about her affair with Tony.
How the hell did Tracey know EXACTLY where that candle and matches where, considering the flat was in darkness when she entered?
How did Tim manage to snap the chains on the gates to the builders yard?
Tracey and Liz totally calm, knowing Amy was inside the flat.
Just before the end of one episode, Cal, Amy and Leanne just standing at the doorway to the flat instead of getting the hell out of there. It looked as though they were waiting for the theme tune to start.
I could go on, but I'm sure there are many on here who agree.
Yes, those two episodes must go down in the annals of Corrie history as containing the most rank bad/wooden acting ever, especially Cal, who just stood there on the balcony, waiting for the gas cylinder to explode...Tracey just blurting out to Liz about her affair with Tony.

The "fire" scene inside the flat generally was nearly as bad as Charlton (Moses) Heston parting the Red Sea in the Ten Commandments.
I realise Granada have to keep the viewing ratings up with a week of blockbusting episodes, but (imo) there is to much going on at once, maybe get down to earth a bit with, say for instance a plot with Emily Bishop contesting a fine for returning a library book a couple of days late. I mean in a "real" Street you don't get trains going through the viaduct/murders and houses blowing up every few weeks......

I've said it before - just as in gems like Frasier - The Street works best on characterisation and not plot. The actors are generally excellent in their comfort zone but take them off set (eg the now passe soap bubbles) or create a big drama of the type which happens rarely ,if ever, such as murders and train crashes and everybody struggles. The writing deteriorates , and the actors lose the polish of their daily persona and the result is a toe curlingly bad parody. It's best when nothing more important happens than Ken running out of teabags or Steve and Lloyd just riffing off each other about nothing or Mary being herself.
True enough.
Now, with the reality of soap land in full play and the unbreakable soap 'plot truth' now full engaged, with 'the bad guy/girl can never get away with it', this whole psycho-pyro-barlow storyline has to reach a peak and revelation. What do you wabbleofwoudywebbles reckon, Crimbo and an off the cuff comment regarding something she saw in the flat, with an end of scene line by Carla something along the lines of 'how did you know that... oh my god, you were there...' followed by, 'you almost killed your own daughter' and Tracy saying 'yes I know' and Ken chiming in with 'Tracy! how could you do that?'
Script writing for Corrie, it's a doddle.

And I wonder how this will all pan out.... Please don't say it's a story that'll be dragged out for months...

I've lost track of the number of times Ken has said "Tracy! How COULD you!". I think we need to look at the bigger picture. BGT semi-finals were on all week, and these are headliners for ITV. I guess Corrie were under instruction to come up with a big plotline so that viewers would tune in to ITV all evening, and take figures away from the Beeb. I agree with previous comments - soaps don't work well in those circumstances, however hard the hype-makers work at it. Stick to what you do best.

On another note when is the Deirdre storyline being shown?

What did Maddie die of? She only fell over. Might be nasty for a 90 y/o but not at 19. Even Jack Wilshire wouldn't have been injured by that!
Yes, it was very strange...she must have banged her head on the floor...Re tonight's episode, the scenes in Platt's living room were hilarious, with Michael turning the pages of the album one by one, and "Gavin" going greener with every turn..........Top class work.
This fake sprog story line is rubbish and Les Dennis is a woeful actor. He just cannot act with any conviction at all (well apart from a few spoons and a dodgy alarm clock). He should take lessons in acting from the Clangers. In fact, he would be far better listened to with the clangers as a voice over. Please write him out asap.
I think we're all glad the Gavin/Andy storyline is coming to a close. It got embarassingly stupid, and was IMHO a mistake by the Corrie writers which got out of hand. However, we have to bear in mind that this is a soap, and in soap-world all transgressions are forgotten within a few days, let alone years. E.G. David Platt, who once pushed his mum down the stairs, and tried to kill his brother, and now it's never talked about.
In recent weeks there's been a lot of fuss made about actors leaving Corrie and discontent amongst the cast, and we were all wondering about who else might be leaving. Tabloids have spoilt it for me, but now Kal and Maddie have been written out without us being made aware in advance. Where's it all going to end? Is Dev now taking his leave? There appears to be trouble afoot in the Kallahan household.
Humerous names for small businesses often annoy me, but the courier company was good -Crow Delivery Services. Presumably a reference to "as the crow flies".
