Interesting episode tonight, although I have to respectfully disagree with my learned friend above, ^ I thought the acting in the Barlow household was pretty good, everyone getting things off their chest.

I'll give Tracy two weeks to return to her own ways though....biggrin

Emily Bishop tipsy...whatever next?

Something that is bugging me for no reason at all about Corrie is the character of Norris. Yes he plays an amusing funny/ odd old gentleman, but why is there no reference at all to the 'original' Norris back when he was a nemesis of Mavis' Derek? It's as if the past never happened. Did he have a bump on the head or some sort of epiphany?

Yes. This has been nagging me also - he used to be a subserviant toady to Derek, holding his prowess as a stationery salesman in awe. Now he bows to no-one.

The OP and myself will have to agree to disagree about acting standards. I KNOW it's a soap. but the argument was so unrealistic. Whenever one of the parties spoke, the others just listened, waiting for their next line. Real family arguments result in everybody speaking at the same time, usually shouting to be heard above the others. I could almost hear Ken counting off the seconds before he uttered his next line.

BTW I also enjoyed Emily being tipsy. Funny moment. Now THAT episode was the tribute to Anne Kirkbride. Her closest friends having a toast in the pub - nice moment.

It's a Corrie fault that characters change their entire persona too often. Norris is a good example. Gail used to be a normal woman, now she's a comedy figure and a total idiot. Sally used to be pretty normal, now she's the street snob. Tim was Faye's feckless wastrel of a dad, now he's father of the year, loyal and loving boyfriend, do anything for anyone. Jason and Todd both used to be nice lads, now Todd is a bd.

Very odd. But it keep us on our toes I guess.

As far as I remember Tracey Barlow has consistently been a 'handful', despite the fact that she's been played by 4 different actresses!

Well yes, I see what you mean, but in our house when Mrs WR speaks, I listen......

From the way Ken was shouting there was some real emotion there and the general feeling elsewhere in the episode was almost elegaic, especially in the RR . Curiously moving - but I was always was a secret Deirdre admirer back in the day.

I think "Deidre" was genuinely liked by many of the street cast, and her death hit them very hard.

However, in "real" life, she didn't help herself with her compulsive smoking addiction, probably knocked at least ten years off her life, same with George Harrison/Barry Sheene, but it was their life.

Interesting departure by Carla. I wasn't expecting her to be written out just yet, so I assume this impromptu holiday will give the writers a chance to think of her "exit" storyline. All very sad - she's a good character.

Finally, the Eileen/Gail/Michael saga has resolved itself.......or has it? Can't see Gail giving up without some mischief or other. He does look amusing when he's kissing Big Eileen, like Little and Large. Just think - only a few years ago he could have been entwined with Amanda Holden........

What the heck is the motive of Robert, the man who's acting ability makes Sarah-Lou look like Lord Olivier? I still haven't worked out what his plan is, unless he's simply running away from his ex. Why did Corrie bring him back? He's a weak character part.

Sally playing to type - impressed by "big player" Kevin, not so impressed by Tim's lifetime achievements.

lol! @ Tim's doorstep window cleaning pitch, no wonder he only got four takers....probably 25 stone fag smoking slags with ten screaming kids.....smile

Funny how Cal's son has transformed from quite an obnoxious young man , with a chip on his shoulder, to a caring helpful chap.

Fireworks due tonight when Robert's "wife" catches up with him...yikes

Wonder if Tony has recovered from his beating at the hands of Liz?..hehe

That 'beating' from Liz was horrendous.

Looking forward to Robert's wife next appearing.

He took the fancy apartment in order to further his chances with Kylie, and to better his chances of obtaining custody of Max. He looks like a fish out of water.

Wooden Robert and wooden Joanie, classic acting.

Beth about Joanie - "Like Ricky Hatton with lipstick."

Yes, there was more wooden acting in last night's episode than The Woodentops....

Although it was good to see Tracy get the clap, (sorry slap) she so richly deserved.

Meanwhile, Bethany is falling headlong into dastardly drug dealer Callum's evil trap...the rotter.
