I noticed Simon's voice is breaking. How long before he's sniffing after the girls in the street?
That mate of Callum's in the flat cap looks at least 20 years older than the other, or indeed Callum himself,( although he's not looking too good these days). Or is the older mate just a product of regular drug use?

I think Dev is quite a good character and Jimmi does a good job of playing him too, the way he squirms, stutters and jitters with such incredulity when put in some of the positions he gets himself into is very amusing.
A favourite Corrie storyline/moment was when it was discovered via Roy that Dev also had a big steam train interest. I can't remember who he was conversing with but it all went a bit secretive while Dev was giving out some train enthusiast information that he shouldn't know.nicanary said:

He also has one of the worst faux Northern accents on the show. For real accents see whiney Manc Kevin and such a great acccent you could chop it up and fry it Sinead That mate of Callum's in the flat cap looks at least 20 years older than the other, or indeed Callum himself,( although he's not looking too good these days). The footballists will be gone from out screens next week, and we're back to normal.
According to my TV guide, Billy and Todd share a kiss - the printers are a bit behind! The atmosphere in Eileen's gaff is going to be a tad icy, especially if Billy comes down for breakfast. I'm concerned now that Todd's new romance will take up all his attention, and Phelan will be ignored for a while. Pity.

The difference between a Burnley accent and a Rossendale accent (5 miles away) is marked, similarly Hyde v Stalybridge.
In the "Street" Jack P. Sheppard's (David Platt) is pure West Yorkshire, you can tell it a mile off.
Sinead sounds like a right drip....

And Liz is essence of Hull(she'd say Herl ) even though she was born in Morley apparently . But that's fine- people do cross t'Pennines to get to t'wrong side like . But the stage school actors who have a generic Grim Up North accent really do grate .
'appen.PS I'm from Norfolk, and I can distinguish a Suffolk accent within seconds, although to most people (with 5 fingers and toes), they sound the same. Suffolk folk are softie southerners what with their dual carriageways and all - a sort of Norfolk-lite. I'm convinced that many Suffolk people emigrated to Canada because they both say "oot" instead of "out".
If you want real variety, come to Ulster where I now live. Small country, small counties, yet a huge variation in accents, which I put down to the fact that for centuries the locals didn't travel anywhere, indeed they often never left their village. I know a woman in her 50s who has never been to the Republic (true story) because she's scared of change. The outcome of this is that some villages have their own distict accent - any PH member reading this who lives in NI can tell stories of this. Portavogie is my favourite - a working fishing village which didn't even have a pub until relatively recently, such is the staunch Prebyterian background. If they ask for a meal in a Chinese takeaway , it'll sound like Chakn kurra n chapps. Jim McDonald is pure Belfast working-class. (So he is).

PS Sorry for that ramble. What I meant to say is that so many TV dramas use actors who employ generic accents. As you say, there is a "typical" Northern accent. When a Norfolk accent is required, central casting send along someone who thinks "Oh Arr" from Somerset is sufficient, when it should be "That do, dornt et". Why don't they use local actors?

Well it wasn't an immaculate conception so number one suspect is obviously Nick; the left field candidate is Ziddane, who has been giving her some smouldering looks. But in Ramadan with his dad's partner? It would take years of therapy to sort that Oedipal car crash out ...
Unfortunately I've seen some spoilers that say who it it. And I spent a LOT of time going "eh" and "what"....james_tigerwoods said:

I think for anyone who doesn't already know it will be quite a surprise...
(Bit far fetched if you ask me)
It was the ghost...I say...it was the ghost, of Fred Elliott.(Bit far fetched if you ask me)
What a great character......sadly missed.
