We all know about soap Insta-Exit(TM), you know "that's it I'm packing up and leaving Weatherfield and moving to that London where no one can contact me. When? Tonight."
This guys gonna vanish like a genie. I suppose they *could* use up a regeneration and re-cast Sharif?

He'll go - some unspecified family crisis in the Hindu Kush or whatever . The bint will stay and cause mayhem when she looks for new male entertainment ; she will live with Yasmeen and they will become very close. But truth will out ....

Corrie humour - they could say he's had to jet off to India.

Taking all his possessions forever in an overnight bag or clearly empty suitcase! Plus,if leaving for abroad, getting an instant flight booking!

Re his age, he was just on the radio there and said "I'm 60, not 45".

He's gone from 45 to 60 in the space of 48 hours.

It seems that Ladbrokes have picked up on this and are offering odds on his "re-cast" replacement.

Om Puri 3-1
David Suchet 4-1
Idris Elba 8-1
Saeed Jaffrey 8-1
Omid Djalili 100-1
Keith Vaz 100-1

I've got fifty bob riding on this chap at double carpet...

Just been on the Radio offering a grovelling apology...he was wrong etc, etc, and didn't mean to upset anyone.

I reckon that's his career over, shame, I quite liked him in the street, and was waiting for the st to hit the fan over his affair....

Mad world, sacked and now the police involved over such trivial nonsense. Welcome to worse than 1984.

Technically, I suppose it's a hate crime. I was reading an article the other day about a Muslim policwoman who cannot report other Muslim officers who abuse her verbally because that would be a hate crime. Our country's gone bonkers.

Basically these days saying anything to other people is "racist".

So I'm being "racist" to you now.

Some people over- react - and the police seem especially keen on doing so. And that annoys me as much as anybody else. But I would rather have this rather over sensitive society (safe spaces and trigger warnings etc - nonsensical ) than the rampant racism and sexism of the 70s and 80s (and before )I grew up with which wasn't just idiotic , but toxic .

Read my post on the last page, he's been lying about his age for so long I don't think he knows how old he is.
Unless he was on his way out anyhow he must be pretty pissed off, it's the only juicy storyline he's had!

Is one of the long-standing members of the cast on his way out? I'm surprised the RSPCA haven't been in touch with the producers - that dog's been a barrel for years now. It's dog abuse by any other name. No such thing as bad dogs, only bad owners, as they say. Poor Ozzy.

Cheers for the heads up smile

So Sharif finally put down a deposit on an apartment, pity he's not going to be around long enough to enjoy it...mind you, even if he hadn't been fired from the show he still would never have seen a front door key...biggrin

The st is going to hit the fan when Dev finds out there is no money in the gym's bank account....punch

It would be convenient, but these episodes were written and produced long before his indiscretion. It's lucky for the writers that they've now got a get-out clause.

So I suppose we have to assume that he gave his savings to Alya (£14k) and had to "borrow" from the gym for the flat deposit (£15k). Isn't he supposed to be a successful Asian businessman? I don't want to stereotype people, but any people of that ilk I've ever known have wedges of cash all over the place. The do things the Muslim way and don't borrow money if interest has to be paid. It tends to be in shoe boxes at the bottom of the wardrobe.

No offence intended by any means. (I've done the same).

^^^

Maybe business is slow at the gym, and, let's face it, if you had serious wedges of cash you wouldn't live on Coronation Street.

Dev had SEVEN shops fifteen years ago, now he's down to one and a kebab shop...it's the recession you know.

I blame Labour.
