A true Street (and Last of the Summer Wine) legend. You can never forget her flying ducks and 'muriel'.
Oh, the muriel, genius. Reminds me, no connection really, of the Annie Walker monogrammed carpet.

Didn't she later find out Fred Gee had got it as it was left over from the local bingo hall or similar. The Alhambra Weatherfield or suchlike???

My memory might be playing tricks, it was a long time ago.

Annie Walker at a FOOTBALL match!!! How common......Nice to see Gerry Booth and Len Fairclough in the middle of the photo.

Hilda Ogden was a real soap legend in the best sense of the word. One of the finest creations in British TV history. RIP Jean.

Now - what's going on with all these lengthy absences? Jason's been gone for months now (or so it seems), and Ken and Sawfee are now vanishing with trumped-up excuses. Maybe the latter is going to be in panto (?) and possibly Ken is the juvenile lead in a similar production(takes me back to Kenneth Horne and ageing juvenile lead Binky Huckerbuck, appearing with Dame Celia Molestrangler.....). We'll have nobody left at this rate. I'm actually surprised that Emily is still being "covered" - I thought maybe they would write in her demise in foreign fields because she is not returning ever AFAIK.

We're going to be left with more wooden characters - Freddy is just as bad as Caz. I'm getting bored with him, but he's in with a shout if Ken goes away. Audrey had better search out her naughty nightie......

Was that talk of 'The Grand Tour' subtle product placement for an upcoming Amazon show?

Tommy Orpington's dad wasn't even born then.

I have been informed that the picture was taken on November 11th 1967.

Manchester City 6 Leicester City 0..biggrin(I was actually at the game, but don't recall this photoshoot).

Lucille Hewitt (Jennifer Moss) bottom left, died in 2006 after a long battle with alcohol.

All in the picture are sadly no longer with us.

Yes, I've been trying to find a clip on Youtube....it was there last year...grumpy

In a nutshell, Eddie Yates offered to get snobbish landlady Annie Walker some personally monogrammed carpet with her initials (AW) woven into it.

Eddie duly obliged, put it in the Rovers front room, Annie was delighted and paid Eddie £50.

[Scouse accent)....."Errrr ta very much Mrs Walker"....

However, to her horror, Annie found out the carpet was an old offcut from the Alambara Weatherfield bingo hall.

She summoned Eddie in for an explaination, he tried to bluster his way out of it, but to no avail, and reluctantly had to give her her fifty quid back.

One of the Street's funniest scenes ever........smile

I could never understand why Annie married Jack. He was a gentle soul, clearly from solid working-class stock, and she was an appalling social climber. They didn't seem matched at all, except maybe she needed a stoic uncomplaining spouse in order to live her fantasy life - when Newton and Ridley visited the Rovers you'd think she was showing them round the Savoy.

Jesus, I was right. (apart from confusing Fred with Eddie). Not bad considering I can't recall what I had for breakfast this morning!

I can usually "read" ahead with Corrie plots, but I wasn't expecting that. Good twist - well played Corrie.

Which bit, David or Ken?

Good acting by Bill Roach there, that was quite chilling to watch. Stroke or heart attack?

I was thinking of Ken, although I must admit I hadn't forecast the Platt family's plan (which is simply absurd).

It looked like a stroke to me, with the curling lip indicating some sort of effect on one side of the face. Cue Audrey fussing round him in hospital and later at No.1 - her big chance.

Almost certainly a stroke. Very good acting, although I have always said "Ken" is a fine actor, (unlike 10% of the cast.)

Who's going to pay the taxi driver??...smileHe's missed out on an airport run.

Always take out holiday insurance. You know it makes sense.

Meanwhile, what mess has Peter Barlow got himself into now? The bloke is a walking disaster.

I sigh when a character has a stroke, Eastenders does it, it's a very long and boring plot development.

I reckon he's hiding from someone - those injuries to his face weren't from shaving. Corrie has hit paydirt this week, lots going on and plenty of interconnected plotlines (Michelle/Leanne/Amy)- surely not long now before Michelle twigs.

Wasn't expecting Ken's stroke or Peter's return. It wasn't telegraphed like so many soap stories. Great stuff and maybe we'll see fewer of the wooden actors. Not a spoiler as such, but Mary has a plotline this week which can't be bad.
