Why? Ritalin calms down people with ADHD. It has the opposite effect on those who don't have ADHD.
So if you calm something down that isn't hyper to start with, I'd have assumed it'd be a further relaxant, rather than a stimulant? Such as speed. Not that I have a clue really, it was just a guess.

Of late they seem to have gone completely overboard with pictures of dead characters littered around the sets, Albert, Blanche, Betty etc. etc.
Yes, but no pictures of Betty's hotpot. Granada are slipping up.Must say, Maddie's slowly growing on me, she came across as a sour faced waster, but has transformed into a kind caring type, giving helpful support to both dopy Tim and young Sy.

Albert and Blanche were relatives of Ken Barlow. He's very traditional by character and surely would continue the old British custom of having family photos around the house? As for Betty, the photo was put on the wall of the Rovers after she "died" as a tribute to her long service and the legendary hotpot. I don't think there's anything unusual in having such photos in one's home - I have photos of my daughter, and my parents had numerous examples of their kids and grandkids.I think Corrie do a good job of reflecting the interiors of everyday homes. Except the mess. Why do they not consider that most people only clear up once a week? You never see old newspapers lying on the chairs, or dirty crockery in the sink.
The trial starts next week. Rob is sweating, though I'm not sure why. He's not been implicated in any way so far. His guilty conscience may get the better of him "on the day".
BTW what's this flat that Carla is having prepared at the moment? I could never understand why she moved into Peter's pokey little flat and sold her own. When did she get another one? I must have missed something.
Speaking of 'trials', whatever happened to the trial of the bloke who burnt down the Rovers killing Sunita? Think he was called Carl, v dodgy Manc accent after Taggart and before Holby.
Surely even if he pleaded guilty he would have been sentenced and put away for a long time in The Big House with Peter and Yer Man Big Jim (so he is), or are we just following soap tradition that the moment someone is put in the back of a police car thats the last we'll ever hear of them?

Ok, although that was written by someone with a little too much time on their hands. http://coronationstreet.wikia.com/wiki/Karl_Munro
I just wondered how in this case (and in the telly world in general), often the last we ever see of them is a sorry looking face in the back of a police car as it is driven away, soon followed by the closing credits (TV cliche).
The subsequent trial is never shown or even mentioned on the programme itself or any sentencing, no mention in the Weatherfield Gazette and not even a mention from Norris.

On the subject of photos, how come there's a photo of Big Jim in his army uniform on the shelf in the back room of The Rovers, when Liz and Steve hate him (so they do)?
I think deep down, Steve, and (especially Liz) still love him. There's always been a spark between the two of them, despite Liz being in denial. When, (and if) he comes out, she'll be with him within a month, even if he is "a big daft Irishman" (so he is).

This really has gone nuts, no one has all these pictures everywhere!

I've realised that the storyline about a pregnant Faye has not happened - well, not yet. The redtops certainly spill the beans very early. But what I wasn't prepared for was the new Steve storyline - depression. That took me back, completely unexpected. An interesting twist.
