I thought cabbies rented their 'slot' from the cab firm who then took a cut of whatever they earned, therefore no 'salary' as such?
They get a settle for corp jobs and the like plus any cabs taking credit cards don't process themselves its via the operator account however I doubt this applies to the poorly researched world of the street where you can get evicted in a day and not have £200 to pay your mortgage even though you have 3 lodgers and a moneyed ex hubby.Wacky Racer said:

Obviously not at "Streetcars".....Plenty going on last night over at the cobbles.....
To be honest, I thought the writers were stringing this storyline out far to much about Steve, it's been going on months, but last night it all came together superbly...well done Granada....
Will Eileen be able to pay her mortgage?
Will that irate cabbie be headhunted by Levenshulme Limo's?
All this is going on whilst Lloyd is over in Portugal, he is not going to be a happy bunny when he returns...
Meanwhile, Anna does not seem to have any sympathy with Roy, over the attack on Gary, even though Gary is trying to play it down.....I think she needs to cut Roy a bit of slack...what do you think?
Norris seems to have got the bit between his teeth regarding the haunted house, I can see this developing into a very funny storyline, if Amy eggs him on........
I loved Amy saying "I see dead people" - she knew Norris wouldn't "get it".
Apropos nothing much - last night I was whistling a jaunty tune (like Stewie and Brian) and I recalled a period in Corrie history which I'm sure is close to Wacky's heart. Do you remember when the corner shop was owned by an ex-manager from Freshco who modelled the emporium on a sort of Victorian style of quality and service? It was called Mr. ??s Provisions, and a young Nick Tilsley was employed as delivery boy wearing a grocer's apron (NB my correct use of a "grocer's apostrophe" )and he rode one of those old trade bikes. This Mr ?? got angry with Nick one day because he didn't whistle whilst he was delivering. What was this guy's surname?

I agree about Anna. Only the other day she was treating Gary as a pariah, now the scriptwriters have her changing attitudes too quickly.

Have look through this;

I think you're right with the Brendan Scott guess. On a side note the Corriepedia site is a great read for fans of the show.

btw, Anyone remember a programme screened in 1972, comprising of eight episodes, screened on a Sunday night on Granada about 5pm, called "The Intruder"...
It was set in The lake district around Silverdale IIRC, and featured "Brendon" as a bloke called Arnold Haithwaite, who arrives in a small sleepy village claiming to be Arnold......

I'm "Ealingfilmfan" on here btw......
Poor Steve - he's cracked up completely now. Time for another visit to the doctor and some happy pills.
The Amy/Norris/ghost saga looks like it's got some wheels, although it does seem a bit odd that a girl of her age would be that precocious in manipulating adults.
NB Leanne in the leather dress. I'd written her off as soap totty.

Yes, great shame for Steve he overheard Michelle talking to Tony through the door, just as he was about to walk in with the peace offering...

21mins 25 secs....
Interesting storyline developing with the fake "Gavin"...is the pressure getting to him and he is about to come clean....?
And spare a thought for Rob Donovan and Big Jim McDonald spending new year in the "big house".....

The Gavin storyline is quite interesting. I know that he isn't the "real" Gavin, but he keeps mumbling about identity theft, and is definitely shifty in all sorts of ways, but what exactly is his end-game? He appears to know his business behind the bar, but when he was asked to make/concoct cocktails, he tried to fudge his way out of it. It's all a bit mysterious.
Does he share a flat with the real Gavin? Has he been up to mischief with Gavin's identity in the past, or been helping himself to Gavin's bank account? When will this all be revealed? Is he Lord Lucan's love child????

I read an online interview with the actor that plays "Gavin" when he explained the plot.
In a nutshell, he shared a flat with the real Gavin....BUT the real Gavin is away somewhere, holiday I think, and the imposter..."Gavin"......was having financial difficulties paying his rent, leccy etc.
Then, when he found out Gavin's dad was trying to contact him, he hit on the idea of becoming "Gavin", knowing that his dad Michael Rodwell (Les Dennis) had never seen him since he was baby, so would not have a clue what he looked like.
"Gavin's" plan was to tap Michael up for a bit of cash short term, to pay his debts, this was only supposed to go on for two weeks, but it quickly got out of hand, and he now wants to find a way out, but he is getting sucked deeper and deeper into a mess.
Of course it eventually will all come out in the wash, probably when the real Gavin, (Michael's real son) returns.....(can't be too long off)...
As an aside, the actor said he was initially only booked to appear in the show for a few weeks, but he hopes Granada will extend his contract, and he will stick around a while......
I hope that's all clear.....
Gavin = the real Gavin...(Michael's son)
"Gavin" = The imposter..
Personally, I think (in real life) it would be virtually impossible to stay on the cobbles, once his cruel scheme has been exposed......

Thanks. That's how I "read" the plot, but it sometimes got a bit blurry.
I can see him staying even after he's been exposed - Nick can be a bit of a maverick, and maybe he'll value "Gavin"s expertise behind the bar , over and above the damage the deception may have caused to his family. More "falling out" between him and Gail.
So when do we find Fay is pregnant? Is Craig the father? No spoilers please! We've got the wedding of the year to look forward to first, and I can't wait for Kirk's speech.

Audrey:- "There you are Mrs Alexis,(handing her a magazine) there's a lovely interview in there with Lauren Bacall"
Mrs Alexis....(Under hairdryer)..."She died last summer"
Audrey:- "Well it's nice to hear what she had to say toward the end wasn't it"
[Slams hairdryer hood down HARD in temper]
Audrey (to Maria):- "Do you know, we really ought to get some more magazines".............
