The Returned (Les Revenants) - postponed

Pity it's been postponed, I think it's one of the best things that has been on for ages.


News has been scarce on the Les Revenants front of late - that's The Returned for any folk less fancy than DS user Adamsk.

But here's what we do know - Channel 4 have acquired the rights to a second series and originally planned to air new episodes in late 2014. However, production on the next run of episodes has now been postponed - until September at least - meaning that The Returned won't return to its French home Canal+ until 2015.

So it's looking like us UK lot won't have the show back until next year either - though if you're looking for something to fill the gap, American cable network A&E has ordered a US remake spearheaded by former Lost showrunner Carlton Cuse.

American remake? Noooooooooooooo! I thought it was brilliant: I would sit there in a Gauloises fug wearing a beret and a string of onions round my neck praying it never got re-made by the Americans. Looks like my Gallic craving won't be sated now till 2015 at the earliest

France never had a 'Police And Criminal Evidence' act to curtail Police methodology like the UK did so apparently they can still do things a-la 1980's 'The Sweeney' style only a little more brutally. They take backhanders and kill the criminals and there's usually innocent collateral damage t'boot over which they don't seem too upset, but you still root for them. Sometimes I began to wonder who the nasty bds were and who the Police were because the difference was getting blurred. They also take cocaine and use hookers.

Series 1 and 2 are available to download free on Sky. Worth every minute of your viewing time.
