Spy drama just started on 2. Looks like this could be good...

I'm still watching, but it's very slow and boring so far.

Agree it was a bit ponderous, but it is well produced and I'll stick with it in the hope that it is a slow-burner which builds nicely. Let's hope...

Tough crowd

Give it a chance, it is an eight part series, not the Bourne identity.

Maggie Gyllenhaal's English accent is pretty good, although it does sound a bit like she's had a few tramadol for breakfast...

Agreed, but that would be 8 hours of my life, I gave it 35 minutes and decided it wasn’t for me. They looked to have focused on making it look good rather than being good, spending more time and effort on Maggie’s accent and location finding than on plot and script. I hope those of you who stick with it enjoy it, but it’s not for me.

I''ve been away in the Middle East for a few weeks with a few more to go and caught up with the first two episodes via a handy VPN to iplayer. I must say it beats watching bbc world news on a 20 minute loop!

Looks well made and for me it is a rare programme where I'm looking forward to the next instalment, must be good then. A bit like Homeland but unlike any American offering of this ilk, things actually happen! I predict a few awards for the series.

Tinker, Tailor. One of the best shows made so far, and practically glacial.

I've tuned in part way through Episode 2 and it's got my interest. However as I'm currently in Spain I can't watch Ep1 via iPlayer! Anyone know if there is an alternative source so I don't fall behind?

Like any viewing abroad, get a VPN which locks your ipad/computer IP to where ever you want it to be, in this case the UK. Do a google, you shouldn't pay more than £2.99 pm for unlimited bandwidth.

Just caught up with part 3, perhaps it's because normal TV is ste abroad but I'm really enjoying it. A bit of a shocking end for the bodyguard....

Excellent TV (for adults). Agree very Tinker Taylor. The MI6 guy is Smilie in disguise!

Not being able to tell the difference between a stone factory and an abattoir was somewhat odd for an otherwise intelligent body guard. And who the fk does the books at night, in the dark anyway.

Nevertheless, I'm quite enjoying this despite the sluggish nature of parts of it.

Since the first episode everything has been pointing towards Nessa being the mother of Kasim - so much so that I assume that's not the case and there is a twist here somewhere.

Any thoughts on what the big secret could be?

Nessa has a dick.
Seriously though, I'm enjoying it, a little slow in places, interspersed with much drama.
Probably worth a catch up on a sunday afternoon.

I'm going for Nessa being a fully paid up member and leader of Hezbollah. Her spy spied on the James Bond type with the dodgy laptop, she calls in the scar face bad boy from Palestine to eliminate him. Still think Nessa might be Kasims mother and scar face the father, Stockholm syndrome and all that.....

I won't find it on ceebeebies then? What a strange comment, really enjoyed TTSS (series and film) but found this dull.

I agree it's not Le Carre, but it's also not fair to call it dull IMHO.

I know you said you didn't watch past the first 35 minutes on E1, but you could watch a 35 minute segment of TTSS and fall asleep, it's only that most of us have read the book which helps keep your interest. This programme, whilst not perfect by a long way, doesn't have that advantage.

In which case I wonder what kind of work Nessa's foundation is really doing - I think it's a little more sinister than simply providing broadband internet to the West Bank.
