Or the fact a space station crash landed on earth without causing too much damage and killing everyone inside? or that of the whole earth they just happen to crash not too far from the '100'!
They said they were aiming for the kids and missing the window to reset the explosives would mean that they took too long to come around again and the air would run out.
Ad to the language thing, their descendants were all astronauts 100 years ago and i presumed the standard space language would be English..if not that dominated as their kids grew up. And the gronders were in America, where they speak English...just!

Yes, that fails/works when the plot demands it.

And in stargate they admit they just dismissed of the language "crap" out of convenience.

Same over here, doesn't really bother me. English is as close to a universal language we have these days and it might be safe to assume that, continuing this path, the majority of the population has at least a grasp of it within 100 years?
Fire fly had a good solution, if a bit muddled, with the US and chinese cultures and languages colliding together.

I think I liked the last episode. on the whole is was good Monday night viewing although given that Monday night telly is so bad it was always going to be an easy win. I am curious to know what series 2 will be like now.

We're told that the Ark is formed by joining a number of nation's space stations together "The Ark consists of the space stations previously representing the nations of the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, China, Japan, India, Russia, Venezuela, France, Brazil, and Uganda."

(WTF, Uganda !)

So even if the prevalent space language was English, one would expect words from other the other languages to enter the vocabulary. Slang, accents, figures of speech, inflection points, sub-text etc.

I'd also expect the vocabulary of the space lot to diminish for things that they don't encounter on a daily basis e.g. streams, rivers, ravines, cliffs, etc

But, I expect that 100 years apart is not something to make too big a deal about - and it would not add a great deal to the entertainment.

Anyone watch the start of series 2 lastnight? The grown ups are on the ground now, and some of the kids are in this underground bunker with people who can't survive the radiation on the surface.

I saw it too. I think it was probably as enjoyable as the last series so far, but it's early days yet. Hard to believe that the sections of the ark that "landed" are in quite such good condition, but I'll keep on it for a bit.

There does seem to be a bit of a rush of new stuff at the moment - new series of Silent Witness, Death in Paradise (nice feel-good series for the bad weather now the Beeb don't do "Holiday" any more), the 100, Suits next week, Big Bang Theory next week, all the BBC Super-rich stuff. I cleared some space off the recorder for Christmas and didn't use it, looks like I'll need it for some of these.

Yup.

Anyone else think they will want to perform experiments on the 100 (well, 48 they have?) - blood transfusions and whatnot. Also wondering just how many people are actually in that bunker?

I'm just waiting for it to resume after the mid season break in 2 weeks time. First couple of episodes of series 2 were a bit odd to me but then it really gets in to its stride. Can't wait!

Glad this is back on. Really enjoyed the first episode.

Didn't we all think it sucked when the first series started, thought it was just a teens in space soap opera then it got darker and more brutal.

The trailer for the first episode looked amazing.
I looked at my post to see why I didn't bother with it.
Is it any good?

I can't watch anything from the net.
Less that 1mb dl speed.
I'm willing to watch S2 if it's not the dazzing-white-teeth, teeny-bop fest that S1E1 gave the impression it was.

That stopped about 4 or 5 episodes in. They are usually caked in blood with some nasty wounds/deaths. Fashionable yet really greasy hair as well biggrin

I didn't watch this for exactly the same reason, but I'm considering watching it on Netflix.
FWIW, I've got a painfully slow internet connection too and Netflix works ok. (I also tried blinkbox but it buffered more than it played)

Well, I saw that "special alliance" coming a mile off.

I'm still with this, it's pretty easy to watch and flits around between the various different groups while they're on slightly separate paths. Hope that's not a spoiler.

It gets even better toward the end of the series. Finished in the US a few weeks ago. Looking forward to season 3.

Finished last night and on an interesting cliffhanger.

Shame it's on E4 as I think 4hd should have it so we can enjoy it with a better picture.

The drilling scenes were pretty toe curling.
