Gold rush returns 20th October. Is only a few days after showing in the US this season which means I won't have to buy them on iTunes from the us store.

Such a strangely addictive show. I'm sure I've got it in me to go to Alaska and dig chunks of gold out of the ground.

Or perhaps Wales. Not quite so cold there, and less bears....!!!!

You can pan for Gold at Dan Y Ogof Caves! (My spelling might not be spot on) there's plenty of flakes to find - I do wonder if it's viable to mine wink

This use to be a guilty pleasure of mine, but the guilt passed - I love it. smile

I prefer Gold divers (is it called), the unbearable tension of the young weedy bloke wanting to shag the brains out of his partner with the big nose, but her basically ignoring him and dancing naked on the saloon bar table and poking her butt in all the hunky blokes faces (well almost).

And 2 or 3 real psychos/personality defects who you known really could flip and murder someone in the blink of an eye - probably there because they can't hold down an ordinary job.

I used to enjoy that also, it sounds from your description as if you are quite early in the series? It gets darker, a lot darker, I stopped watching after a while.

Yeah the one I watched was the summer one I think, definitely called Gold Divers, had the Pomrenkies in it and Zeke and Emily

Most of the same mob do the under ice diving too. I love these shows and I am an expert at guessing the weigh in weights. Only yesterday I was watching "Yukon Gold", a similar show to Gold Rush buy with Canadian accents. I nailed the weigh in.

When I told her, Mrs B was unmoved. paperbag

I'm not sure I can do another series of just blindly digging up ground and running dirt, without even a semblance of a plan; test drilling, logitistics, equipment, plant position, which order to dig, frozen ground etc.

I guess I will though, just for the horror of amateurs moving enormous plant with just a couple of tractors hehe

Bound to be, they've got a huge claim which yielded good gold last year. An established, working reliable plant. A good crew and they're working off the back of a decent season so they should be well funded.

I just can't wait to find out how they manage to fk it all up.

shhh, don't tell anyone, but I hear the script this year calls for the Hoffans to do okay and Parker to struggle because he crew left him for being a bit over-bearing and they're going to play the Gold-Brat angle, but I still reckon Fat Todd is going to fk it up somehow

How else did you think that the Hoffmans managed to get such a good area they can't actually afford and Parker decided to go out alone, Im hoping its not the case as the Hoffmans are a useless bunch of idiots... loosing all their money and then magic out of their ass $800k for equipment $$$k for the land, etc, then only run the plant to get $1 million or so and declare a successful season... major BS comes out of their mouth

If you consider the number of hours that Parker actually worked for his profit....there are a lot easier ways to make that amount of cash

Didn't her make $3m or something? I may only be a working class Welshman, but I could work 25 hours a day 8 days a week and not make that in 6 months.

Revenue is different to profit, something the producers seem keen to overlook. wink

He may well have pulled $3m of gold out of the ground, but how much did it cost him to do it?

Rumour is that the Hoffman's didn't even break even on their mining in their most profitable season to date, but live off the TV appearance money.

The season regulars make $25-50k an episode, so it makes no difference if they make bugger all as the tv show made them the money
