Just back from seeing the film.

It's fantastic, start to finish. Tears and laughs.

I posted this in the BBC2 Icons thread.

Chaplin is included but not Laurel and Hardy. Travesty. In an article in the Radio Times decades ago, Eric Sykes put into words a feeling I had but had been unable to articulate. "Chaplin was an ordinary man trying to do funny things. Laurel and Hardy were funny men trying to do ordinary things."

THe L&H twitter is trying to get L&H films shown again on the box.

I'll always gladly watch any L&H (and A&C, Laurel wrote for them). THere's only one CC I'd watch, and Harold Lloyd if I'm in the right mood.

Anyone yet seen Stan and Ollie? Not got round to it yet but looks very good indeed.

As well as L&H I've explored other comedians of that era - Liked Marx but LOVED Harold Lloyd and Buster Keaton. Wonderful comedy and some terrifying stunts.

It looks that way. I wasn't sure about Steve Coogan at first but I've seen clips and he has the mannerisms and voice absolutely spot on.

never liked Steve Coogan, but I have to say he was brilliant in Stan and Ollie. Completely forgot him and John Reilly werent in fact the real thing!

Great film, loved it, although quite poignant in places

If you have a Roku box, there's a "Laurel and Hardy" app that streams a load of their films and shorts.
