Off topic a bit, but I read this yesterday about kids shows based on inappropriate movies. Rambo, Aliens, Robocop, Starship Troopers, yeah they're fine for the kids, just take out the sex, violence and language hehe

I adored the Muppets as a kid but I couldn't watch it alone; Animal, The American Eagle, Pigs in Space, Beaker and Bunsen all scared the scensoredt out of me.

My 4-year-old was quite traumatised by the episode of Thomas the Tank Engine where Henry refused to go out in the rain and was bricked up in a tunnel for several weeks as a punishment.

That was really scary. I wish you could get it on DVD as I'd love to watch it again.

Another vote for Dr Who here, but it was the villain that used to go round putting little black cubes on people. No idea what episodes, but it was probably the master. Put me right off Kola cubes it did.

Also, not quite the same, but Sarah Greene on one of those saturday morning shows. I had an old portable TV in my room as a kid, and one morning was getting changed in front of it. Sarah was on the box and for some reason said something along the lines of "I see you getting dressed" or something. Scared the bejeebus out of me and I dived into bed laugh

As soon as I saw the thread title The Moomins was the first thing I thought of - glad it's not only me!

This article from the Beeb about the author goes someway to explaining why it was a bit weird...

Children of the Dogstar.

The creepy weather vane thing on the barn scared me when I was a kid.

I watched the whole series on Youtube recently and it's actually really good!

Me too, brother. But the things that scared me the most were the humans in monster suits with big fangs and lips. I remember one particular episode when a small yellow muppet was trying to sing "you are my sunshine", and one of these things kept bursting on to the screen shouting "hugga wugga". Gives me a shiver even now to think about it. Horrid.

Yup, me too! Also Planet of the Spiders...

Anyone remember this from Space 1999:

Tentacled space monster would grab victims while psychically 'willing' them towards itself before stuffing them into its gob to incinerate them before ejecting the smouldering burned corpse across the floor. I was only sevenwink
