Definitely a fan of Martha, she's looking like she'll go all the way. The Black Forest Swiss Roll looked scrumptious though yum .
She seemed pretty capable for someone so young. I don't think I was that composed at 17! Especially considering the girl who went headed straight for the panic button as soon as something went wrong! However the question is going to be will she be able to string 10-12 good showings together.A few strong contenders this year - the painter decorator and the lady that got star baker look pretty handy

Let's face it the tactic for the first four five shows has to be don't go crazy, just don't eff it up. Then wind up the show factor later on.
Seeing as all their bakes for the entire series have to be submitted in advance you're going to have them practiced and timed to perfection with a bit of safety margin. Surely?
Technical bakes. Again by now one would expect contestants to have gone through all the Berry / Hollywood books and had a go at stuff. At least avoid the issue of "make a x" oh I don't know what one of those even looks like, or how do you stop cherries sinking? Basic stuff people.
On the other hand the thing that irritated me from season 1 onwards is that, in the cause of deliberate drama and tension, they aren't given enough time for some of the technical bakes. Ok suppose that is more likely to give variable results but irritating when in the masterclass the two stooges take a couple of hours extra.
But then it's easy to criticise from the sidelines, I'd be out first round probably.
Was reading somewhere that Mel and Sue stay in the same hotel as the contestants and a significant part of their role is off camera giving pastoral support for want of a better description.

Soon as he was introduced I said to my missus "He's in IT".....
Was it the riding the chopper bike in the office, the hair, or the annoying way he was talking? To me he came across as someone who was trying hard to live up to the really-clever-but-weird IT nerd stereotype. Might be a nice bloke if you look past all that, but first impression for me was someone really annoying.FiF said:

Can't stand Jordan. He came across as a self satisfied smug git and he just wasn't any good!

That was actually quite funny. Exactly the same as You're Fired though.
I thought it was weak. That may have something to do with Jo Brand IMO, can't stand that woman. Would have been great with someone like Dara or Harry Hill hosting.
Anyway back on tonight, who's leaving?
I'm sure I've seen this guy before somewhere...
The son of a baker from the village of Portknockie overlooking the Moray Firth, Mr Calder is the sole Scot to have made it into the final 12 for the new series of the BBC programme.

Yep with Jo Brand in charge will it get beyond mmmmm cakes and aren't all men fking useless.
I think she's pretty good at presenting - even though I don't particularly like her comedy. The recent TV interview prog about her was quite revealing about what it was like for her to start her stand-up career on stage in front of (mostly) blokes.Anyway, I love Bake Off except it's started me thinking about Ruby from last year again. I thought I'd got over that.
