Because, as we established last week, this appears to be a contracted Top Gear Special with just James May, as opposed to a James May programme like Man Lab or Toy Stories. Sadly.
Thanks Jon, missed that but it explains it.

Why are people so bothered about old cars being destroyed? Get a life.
Because it is pointless, doesn't add to the program and appeals to lowest common denominator LOLs.

One is accustomed such antics on Top Gear, but I (and I'm sure I speak for others also) expect better of James May.

Not that bothered about the cars, just seemed boring and pointless to me.

Unfortunately if you made a tv for car enthusiasts alone then there be about 14 of up watching.... And that simply won't work for a Sunday night BBC show.

Boring being the key word. They shoot or blow something up on Top Gear every week, it wears very thin even if you love both guns and cars.

A) Because we're car enthusiasts, and we might like those cars
B) We want to watch an entertaining documentary, not pointless and unimaginative destruction
C) We don't like wastefulness

I don't get the moaning. As a James May programme with a bit of Top Gear stuff in it, it's a good series. I had no idea about the French cars that didn't need any licence, like I had no idea about the German stamp book con last week.

Thumbs up.

I would love microcars to make a comeback. Some amazing designs back then. Would be good to see what they could do with new tech

So if I found it funny then I am a lowest common denominator? Wow.

Quick question; a Saxo and a 106 get the same treatment as the Renault 4 and Citroen 2CV, discuss.

It would still be as boring as f*ck because they do it every week, yep it might be a caravan or a Toyota but IT'S PLAYED OUTsmile

It was entertaining, some of the funny was funny, better than average TV.

Good programme spoilt a little by what's already been mentioned.

That French thing was really funny and cute 15 year old who can't drive in unable to park shocker.

yes
They seem really impressive given the age and better than some of the dreary crap we get over here like the Toyota Aygo. The Daihatsu Copen looked like great fun!

I wondered why he kept mentioning Top Gear. And there were clips of Clarkson all over the place.

PS. Honda Beat pisses all over the Copen. I was in a very entertaining "race" on a JapFest day at Castle Combe in one. The Beat was miles ahead of that and the Cappucino.
Daihatsu Cuore Avantazo (sp?) destroyed everyone though.

Bored senseless by the car shooting bit. Isn't the show on a bit late for 8 year old's? Completely pointless and out of keeping with the rest of the show. Race bit was filler too. Shame it's linked with top gear and thus has to be forcibly 'entertaining'.
