Brilliant stuff showing that enthusiasm for the automobile isn't and shouldn't be confined to silly supercars and horrible hypercars. Utterly crass and pointless shooting sequence- you're a grown up James- permission to behave like one outside the shackles of TG

Good to see the Wail maintaining its fearsome reputation as an authority on military matters by referring to a GPMG as a bren (small B) gun.

posting a dailymail link never backs up a statement, as established 1000 year ago, they right a load of st.

if a song using a few notes from another song is it a facsimile, no it just crosses paths, there are hints of JC but that sells, but it is its own show in its own right.

Should have called it "Carz of the people" as it was fairly low key this week. Last weeks was great and I really enjoyed it. This week it just seemed like they had run out of material and needed some kind of filler.

Still it was nice to see a crunch box (Honda 50) as I loved mine and like most of them it died due to the rust near the rear suspension arms. I just went onto eBay to have a look. JESUS. The prices !!!!

Any idea what next week is about?

As a show in its own right it's crap in my opinion.

At least the Daily Mail use the correct words in context.

I did like the slo-mo RPG bit though. Previous form when 'blowing' things up has been to pretend to fire something at it, then just use pyrotechnics packed into the car, whereas they actually shot them this time.

I enjoyed episode one but episode 2 just looked like a top gear clone with crap races and blowing stuff up aimed at simpletons.

It's a shame as James May can do some great TV. I suppose if top gear is so popular, then the easy thing to do is churn out more of it.

I would love microcars to make a comeback. Some amazing designs back then. Would be good to see what they could do with new tech
yes
They seem really impressive given the age and better than some of the dreary crap we get over here like the Toyota Aygo. The Daihatsu Copen looked like great fun!
The Copen is available the UK (also look at the Suzuki Cappuccino and Honda Beat) -

Microcars are also available - http://www.micro-car.co.uk/ (warning, annoying sound) - and they're still st and overpriced.

Well I enjoyed that one again, I could literally hear some PH'ers turning purple when they started shooting up the 2CV and 4!

Was also nice to watch a program about small/micro cars without getting an hour about the mini!

Quick question; a Saxo and a 106 get the same treatment as the Renault 4 and Citroen 2CV, discuss.
If it were an old, beyond restoration, and all useful parts stripped then if might be amusing, if it hadn't already been done to death.

If it were one clapped out, used up old car of which you could go and pick 5 up in a day from scarpies, then it is tedious but amusing to those who think that wanton destruction of anything without any good reason other than sts and giggles.

If it is one a one hundred or less cars left about, low mileage and not a bad example then, regardless of the merits of the car, it is the work of a tt to destroy it and those who find it amusing should have a word with themselves.

I don't care if it is a Bentley or a Lada. 5 years old or 85 years old. Destroying something rare for 'fun' disgusts me.

How do you hear something change colour then, bearing in mind colour perception is a (literally) visual sense?

Maybe he's synaesthetic ?

On topic - this week's felt a 30 minute programme which they had to pad out to an hour in a hurry. Either that or Andy Wilman scribbled on the script.

Synaesthesia would still require stimulation of the primary sense in order to provoke a response in the secondary one.

But yeah, last night's erratic performance had AW written all over it.
Not quite literally.....you couldn't actually see "AW" scratched in to James May's forehead or anything but you get my drift?

Hmmmm. I did notice that the logos and font were in the fashion and under the wing of Top Gear so it was more of a spin off rather than a James May production which was a pity.

Because it is pointless, doesn't add to the program and appeals to lowest common denominator LOLs.

One is accustomed such antics on Top Gear, but I (and I'm sure I speak for others also) expect better of James May.
So if I found it funny then I am a lowest common denominator? Wow.
It undeniable that such scenes are added for entertainment purposes to keep those who struggle with their attention span. As mentioned, it has become the norm on TG, however I've always felt James May to be above that.

It appears you are in a minority to find the shooting scene funny. Make of that what you will.

My feeling also. yes

Episode 1 was excellent (dropped Lada excepted) whereas Episode 2 seemed to struggle somewhat for content. Shooting scene and race segment were fillers that added very little.
