Was there a glimpse of a Vanden Plas 1300 during the race?
I thought that too.JonRB said:
I thought the Kei cars got good coverage although there was a huge gap between the 1970's and the 2000's that maybe a bonkers nutcase late 80's / early 90's Kei could have covered. I seem to remember they produced some mad turbocharged ones (and possibly a super-turbo) that were very much not in the spirit of the rules. But if you know your Kei cars, you'll know that the little clip of Clarkson was of one such Kei. I think it was a Daihatsu or maybe a Mitsubishi.
factory bar the wheels in the 1st pic.
I have missed Episode one, and just watched episode two.
I was about to get all annoyed and indignant about the destruction to the 2CV and Renault 4....but to be fair, after they'd blown them away, a close-up camera shot clearly revealed some horrendous and terminal chassis rust...so I think we can all now calm down a bit, and recognise that they destroyed a pair of scrappers anyway...
The rest of the programme was....not bad. Not up to the scratch of James's 'toys' series...but better than endlessly juvenile Top Gear at least.
For us, with our dearth of 'PH' shows...it's not too bad I think.

Agreed it's a tv show do we really think they'd go out and buy the first example they'd find? no.... I'd be surprised if the ones they blew even ran!I was about to get all annoyed and indignant about the destruction to the 2CV and Renault 4....but to be fair, after they'd blown them away, a close-up camera shot clearly revealed some horrendous and terminal chassis rust...so I think we can all now calm down a bit, and recognise that they destroyed a pair of scrappers anyway...

Quite abit cooler than just using a bag of fertilizer like they usually do.
I look foward to the 3rd installment I spied a 205 gti in the teaser footage

The James May shirt thing. Do they not do that for continuity purposes? I remember in the days of Clive James travel shows. He said he had about 20 identical blue shirts in his luggage so it made editing the shows easier and they could film bits out of sequence.
In James Mays case though I would be surprised if they found more than one shirt that looked like that.
ahh that would explain why he can't just wear one that fits him properly around his clarkson-esque gut - he'd need another 20. In James Mays case though I would be surprised if they found more than one shirt that looked like that.

Yes, and a 1.9GTI like I had for 10 years. Mine was black and I loved that car. There should be a bit about the Lamborghini Countach as well, although it probably won't get a good review.SAB888 said:

When Clarkson reviewed it as a young Top Gear presenter he observed that "Bo Derek could be sunbathing topless on the rear deck and I wouldn't know" and also "if this was a dessert it would be a sundae with a sparkler in it. If it was music it would be Rock & Roll" (I'm dredging that from memory, so forgive me if it isn't totally accurate. I think I got the gist though). Anyway, my money is on them including a snippet of that when they mention the Countach. They'll also mention it being impossible to reverse and how you had to sit on the sill with the door open to reverse it.
(This is total guesswork btw. I have no inside knowledge)

Daryl Hannah in one review.
I'm sure it's had variations. Or maybe I misremembered the original (I have a feeling I have it on a VHS somewhere recorded off the telly. But I don't even know if I have a VCR any more let alone that I can find the tape). But it was something like that anyway.
