I feel a Monty Python sketch coming on.

What has Clarkson ever done on his own?

Well, there was Clarkson's Motorworld
And Jeremy Clarkson's Car Years
And Jeremy Clarkson Meets the Neighbours
And all those car videos he did that most dads got for Christmas presents for years.
And that thing on Isambard Kingdom Brunel he did.
And that chat show he did.
And that "Who do you think you are?" episode where he found out his ancestors owned Kilner Jars.
And presenting the first series of Robot Wars.

But *apart* from all those, what has Clarkson ever done on his own?

wink

The one about the raid on St Nazaire.

But apart from that...?

Fair enough... Maybe I should've added "in the last decade"! hehe

Glad to see the XR4x4 hoofed it away from the Cavalier hehe The Sierra was a bit, erm, messed around with to say the least, I had feared they were going to explode them both at the end of the programme, which would have been a shame as I need those leather seats for mine!

I'd have been surprised if the Sierra hadn't 'hoofed it away from the Cavalier'! hehe

It's over double the power ( although it didn't go over 2/3 revs in filming )

And 4WD vs FWD.

Cheeky get! I still take her out and give her a damn good thrashing now and again did a full day on track at Brands last November smile

It would have been a completely different show if Hammond had been presenting it.

Did he gesticulate and say 'engine in the back' while driving the Bond Bug????
Confusion with the Bond 875 that had a Hillman Imp (van spec) engine in the rear?

That was a truly scary 3-wheeler (although perhaps the weight distribution made it less likely to roll?).

Maybe, I have always had a peverse hankering for an 875. John Surtees managed a 1.22 lap of Brands Hatch in one.

Like a bad DJesque patronising midgetized ramble?

I don't understand why Sir Chis of Harris doesn't do it.

And Top Gear.

Because, although he's undoubtedly a very good bloke and handy behind the wheel, he's not actually a very good television presenter. No offence to Chris if he's reading.

Well I'm glad they didn't want to blow it up. It was mine! Rather, erm, thoroughly messed around with. Twin turbo V6, 300bhp and 380ft lbs torque, on an Emerald, mapped by Dave Walker. The indicators are cold air ducts...

Thank goodness it won, else I'd never have heard the end of it.

Well that would have been a crap episode...the most interesting thing your family ever did was buy cookware....

Considering how iconic the Kilner jar is, that's actually quite interesting. And inventing something is rather different from buying something.

Also, you seem to be saying that what your great, great, great, great grandfather did is automatically the most interesting thing one's family can ever do.

True, but I know Hammond attracts a lot of criticism, but I think his a great presenter, look at his early days of presenting on YouTube, type in 'Men and Motors', and watch his reviews, its not really surprising to see he got the Top Gear role.

Remember though that the Kilner jar his family made was the screw top jar not the spring clip seal jar that is called a Kilner today.

Yes, true.

My grandma used to be a prolific jam-maker when I was growing up and she used to use genuine screw-top Kilners. I wouldn't be surprised if they'd been as old as she was. smile

There would have been more car casualties for sure.
